I'm hoping XP is no longer used by anyone?

Wilson Logan

Hmmm... I think you'll be surprised at how many folk still use XP.

Still... if you're using XP please let us know.

Cheers,

Wilson.

...duh....Would you believe that I still run W2K here?

Not rabid about avoiding MS updates, just taking the path of
least resistance. I have many installed software packages that
will be difficult to migrate to newer systems.

W2K... nice.

Just waiting now for NT users :)

I'm running XP due to the same reasons that Steve posted.  Several software packages that either don't run or don't run properly on Win7.  Currently PGO is installed on Win7 64bit.

The reason I ask is that I'm moving PG4 to use .NET 4.5.2  but XP support stops at .NET 4.0

For anyone on the fence with Windows 8, I was too.  But Windows 8 + Start8 ($5) gives you a nice Start menu back.  It works really well. XP apps could then be run in a virtual machine.

Assuming you've got Win8 Pro.

Or is that just Win7?   I have Win7 Home and I think you don't get the VM unless you have Pro or Ultimate.

Not sure about Win8.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Yes.. Win7 Pro would be needed.

Yes, I use it, and have no immediate plans to change that on my main system. Maybe I'll put 7 on my next build, but 8? no way.

lol Wilson.

I always use multiple operating systems. Currently it's XP on two PCs, XP in VMWare on the Mac, and Windows 7 on one PC.

PGO would ideally be installed on each, but I will adapt to using it on just 7 if I have to.  The musical OSs are always in flux.

Debs,

You used to be quite hot on what you wanted to see in the Search facility.

There is a recently opened thread for user feedback on the searching in PGO.

Wilson: Great news. I look forward to it. Deb

Yes I still run WinXP, for backwards compatibility reasons.  I know that I could use DOSbox and VMs to get what I need, and when I have a week or two with nothing better to do I might 'upgrade' to Windows 7.  It's not so risky if you run a user account rather than admin, and have a good AV, firewall and malware scanner.  My trial version of PGOffline expired today so I downloaded the latest beta.  XP refused to run it so I guess that you have moved on to the new .NET version.
I'm not complaining.  I realise that this is free software and that you don't owe us anything, but would it be possible for you to provide a download of the last version of PGOffline which used the old .NET files?  That way at least I could export my saved messages (there are about 30,000 of them, so it would take a while to retrieve them all from Yahoo again).  If you could make it a non-expiring version, that would be a definite bonus.  ;D

Wilson Logan

The trial expiry should just stop you downloading.

You should still be able to read messages and export them.

572 is probably the last .Net 4.0 version but due to Yahoo changes, I cannot guarantee you'll be able to download messages with it.

Thanks for your prompt reply and apologies for not getting back to you sooner - I've been off on holiday.

I've downloaded the msi file which works perfectly (including downloads) although I should mention that it triggered a block from Chrome (as malicious software).  But it was ok because I used an obsolete copy of Internet Explorer which I keep for these cases  :o

Thanks for your support - very much appreciated.
