Hi there!

I just came across PG Offline today.  I've downloaded the latest version and the patch.

I am trying to download group messages and I keep getting the Invalid Page Format Error.

I've read the group (here) to try and figure it out.  I've done everything I've read there (though I can't figure out how to do it manually).

(sniffle).

Well I managed to get some groups working.

Not the ONE I want to work (it did start to work and downloaded the first 100 messages) but then it stopped.

I am confused about it all.  Am I doing something?  Is it yahoo! ? or what.

Thanks!

Wilson Logan

Its probably not Yahoo.

What I've been seeing is a very small number of users can't download some early messages from some groups. Sometimes this is intermittant i.e. if you try again tomorrow it might work. No one is reporting this error with current (i.e. last 3 months) messages so if you can get an archive from a friend of the earlier messages then getting current messages shouldn't be a problem.

Whats the group? I might be able to get the early messages for you.

Cheers,

Wilson.

The group is app_processing_GOBR.

It is a closed, private group and I can't even offer to add your for a short while unless sign a Volunteer Agreement.  But I would love to and I will run it by my Director.  Just to see.

It is a group for the Greater Ohio Boxer Rescue of which I am the web-master and Co-Assistant Director.

Application Processing is one of the most important aspects and it is critical we come up with a working, searchable archive.  As I think I said it has 11,000+ messages.  6,000+ are from the last year.  I've recently tried to migrate FROM AOL and my box is locked there.  So it is a pain to search my mail and AOL has a ROTTEN search engine.  If you try to search message bodies you get a nasty lockdown and get thrown from the program (sorry about the Rant).

So.  I've gone back, on and off, it downloads for a while and then, apparently, Yahoo! blocks me out.   I tried to work with the download X amount of message, wait, and then come back.

I love the IDEA of this software.  I wish, like mad, I could get it to work.

And I've tried to start downloading at various points (including messages within the three months too) and I still get the hit and miss behavior (mostly miss).

Thanks for any help or ideas.

Hi Dow,

You're having the same trouble that Carolsea is having. See the last post in this thread:

http://pgoffline.com/forum/index.php?board=5;action=display;threadid=17;start=60

What I recommend is that you get someone else in your group to try my software. They may have more luck & you can swap what bits of the group you already have with them.

I am willing to join your group to help you. I don't mind signing a form.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Yep, I am getting "Error : Invalid page format." on a few groups now. Have been for about a week now.

Another issue is PG offline will get 15 messages then shut down. It shuts it's self down alot. JRouche

Ok, my bust. I started thinking, why only a few groups with the error message. Then I went to yahoo and looked at the first available message, sure enough, 104. So PG was tying to get messages that were no longer available. Cool.

But my problem is PG still shuts down after retrieving 15 messages., help. Thanks, JRouche

Hi JR,

When you say "shuts down" do you mean, actually stops running (i.e. the app closes) or it stops downloading?

There is a feature in PGO which you can set to stop all downloads after a user defined number of "Invalid Page" errors. Its in File--> Options --> Workflow.

Cheers,

Wilson.

I have "stop after receiving" turned off.

PG has always shut down after an apparent download malfuntion. Such as now, when I try to retreive posts and every group is stopping at 15 messages. I can not get any messages now. What is strange is it just started happening. I have managed to get quite a few messages but now she wont budge.

Hi JR,

Do you have message caching turned on? You should be getting hundreds of messages per hit on the server.

File--> Options --> Download

Enable Message Chaching
Receive 100 messages per request

If this *is* already set, what OS are you running & what version of PGO?

Thanks,

Wilson.

I have tried it with cashing on and off and with different values, still quits.

Win XP
PGO v. 2.5.27

Now I get an error message:
Error during save message to the database
Error information: Automation error
the object invoked has disconnected from its clients

I get this for every group

Hi,

Sounds like it might be this problem:

http://www.pgoffline.com/classic.htm

Can you try the solution described there (just as a test).

Thanks,

Wilson.

Hi, neat idea cept, yep, no service packs on this box. JRouche

Its not confirmed but I believe that some later versions of Win XP may have this problem.

Humour me. Give the classic theme a whirl & see if it works.

Thanks,

Wilson.
