My smtp server requires a password for outgoing mail.  Can a password box get added along with a 'save password' option?

Regards,
Monte
PS: On the 'Mail" dialog, it should be 'Close', not 'Colse' ;D

Hi Monte,

Mine needs a password also but I can get thru OK. Don't ask me how. I'd have thought that I'd have needed a pwd. I shall ask Alex.

Fixed in version 2.0.179  (see News at top of page).

Cheers,

Wilson.

Mine isn't working without the password.  Thanks for looking into it.

Hi Gang,
Did this issue ever get resolved one way or another? I've been using pgo's "external mail client" option to respond within my groups. But now that quoting is supported, I'd rather switch to pgo's internal mail client.

However, I just discovered that I am unable to use the internal mail client.

I set the server to smtp.aol.com (same as within OE). But I get an error message:

Error: 556 CLIENT AUTHENTICATION REQUIRED. USE ESMTP EHLO AND AUTH.

I also tried to use a POP3 email account but got a similar error. Both servers require authentication for outgoing mail. I also changed the pgo Master Login p/w to match my mail server p/w (I know... this is reaching at straws!) to no avail.

Can you think of anything else I should try, or is there just no way to use pgo's internal mail client with an email account that requires outgoing authentication.

Hi David,

The PGO mail client is a 3rd party bolt on. There are things we can fix & things we can't & I suspect this is one of the can'ts.

Can you remind me about this in about a fortnight when things calm down?

Thanks,

Wilson.

Hi Wilson,
Here's my reminder to you. I got my fingers crossed that this is one of the 'cans'
