Wondering if there is away to get around the error. Object reference not set to an instance of an object. for Restricted or Private groups. I have one that has about 12000 email I need to get pulled down. But I know yahoo is being so helpful with the changes.

I have been in contact group admin if I need to have the level I am at now changes in yahoo.

Just hoping there is hope down the line.

Kept messing around and changed password on yahoo and system. Now everything seems to be showing up.

Sorry about that.

Hello Ed,

I'm having a similar problem to you - some groups working and some not.  Can you describe what you adjusted in your case, besides changing the passwords, please?

I found that I had to make sure that the checkbox "Skip authorization", under options,
Workflow, was no longer checked. Checking this box was a partial work around for
login failures with recent PGO versions.

Wilson Logan

Sorry yes... I noticed that myself the first time I ran PGO r821 and then promptly forgot that I had done it.

Bad Wilson.....

Sorry!

Hello,

I keep getting the same error message in German "Der Objektverweis wurde nicht auf eine Objektinstanz festgelegt." using the latest release 821. The 'skip authorisation' box is unchecked!
Any idea what else could be wrong?

Thanks

Me again.  Another post in a diiferent topic, that only 'old' groups failed to refresh, encouraged me to install PGO ...821 on a 2nd computer. After the installation I was prompted to enter my ID and password for Yahoo! Groups. Then I tried to get my groups list and ended with an EMPTY list. Makes me think, PGO's master login fails.

Then a group was manually added and to my big surprise PGO started to download posts from this group, slow as always but it works! Currently > 5.000 were downloaded.
Not really a solution for me Because I've a group with approx. 1.000.000 posts. I'll try to add this group manually too and then to import the database from the other PC.

Hi Juergen,

I'm able to get groups list in r821 with no problem.

Can I ask you to download & install a program called Fiddler?

http://www.telerik.com/download/fiddler

Its free. What it does is logs the internet traffic between PGO & Yahoo.

By looking at its log we can tell if PGO is really trying to logon to Yahoo and if its successful.

I have included an example of the Fiddler output as an attachment.

What you should do is install Fiddler. Start Fiddler. Start PGO. Do a Get Groups List.

Switch back to Fiddler, select (highlight) all the output messages (the large pane on the left), right click on the selection and choose Save--> Selected Sessions--> In ArchiveZIP.

And send me the ArchiveZip.  It will save it as a file with extension ".saz"

Thanks,

Wilson.

The "object reference" error is back again, after a few weeks of good and faithful service.  The "Failed to retrieve groups messages count" part is new, though:

9:25:16 a.m.Days left for trial use - 39
Receiving messages for all groups.
[Siddeley] Logging in with account [xxx]
Failed to retreive groups messages count.
Downloading completed.
Receiving messages for all groups.
[Siddeley] Logging in with account [xxx]
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Hi Martin,

Please check that you definitely do not have 'Skip Authorisation' checked as this will give you the dreaded 'Object Reference' error.

You might also get this error if you're locked by Yahoo.

Failing all that, I'd be interested to see a Fiddler output for your run.

http://www.telerik.com/download/fiddler

Its a way to log traffic between PGO & Yahoo.

You download & install it, start it, start PGO, start downloading and you'll get output in the Fiddler window.

If you highlight a selection of the Fiddler output and choose Save--> Selected Sessions--> In Archive ZIP

it saves the selected portion of the log to a .saz file which I can open in my copy of Fiddler to find out what's going on at your end.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Thanks - I'll try the interface later this evening and send you the result.  No changes to settings at all at this end since it was working properly.  I just had the application closed for a couple of days and started it off again today, with the error msg sequence as shown.

martin_lists

Well, that was annoying - installed Fiddler, started it, started PGO ... and it logged in and downloaded perfectly!  At least it's working again :-)

I'll be sure to run the program again in the event of any further "instance" issues, though, so thanks for that.
