I start PGO and it says my registration is expired - I was always able to fix it by just entering the number - Now it presents a looping error message - Error during sending request for prices - followed by - Currency information cant be received from server -.....

This cant be good - I need it fixed

It locks up my PC by looping the errors constantly......

Hi Manfred,

PG Offline version 3 has had to be retired due to the fact that version 4
is almost ready and primarily, the host of the registration server
(Kazix.com) has gone bust.

It going bust isn't a disaster in as much as the registration database is
backed up. What is an issue is maintaining version 3.

The reason to re-write version 4 in Dot.net was to get away from Visual
Basic. Consequently, there is no one here to maintain version 3.

The transition to version 4 ought to be fairly painless. You simply
download & install it and import (File--> Import from Folder) your old ygroups.mdb file.

All your messages should be carried over.

Please let me know how you get on & do not hesitate to request further
assistance.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Well - that did not go well. My first attempt to install resulted in a 'hung' installer dialog. Had to kill it. My second attempt asked if I wanted to repair the first one - I clicked yes. Seemed to go well. Started up - entered my login info clicked get groups - and then nothing.. no groups displayed - blank fields...

Uninstalled and installed a third time - same result no groups displayed.

PLEASE is there a way to make version 3 work again - ?????? Even to just read what I have already saved ?  I can edit the registry to manually put in my registration code if you tell me where.

Hi Manfred,

V3 will no longer work. The host of the registration server went bust and there's no one here with VB expertise to point the V3 registration function to another server.

Its a bit of a moot point in any case as V3 will not work with Neo (the new YG! format).

I'm working on upgrading V4 to work with Neo.

BTW you can download & use PGOLite to look at groups you already have.

It is limited to 3 groups at a time but its better than nothing.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Hi - perhaps you missed my point about not being able to install and use V4...?  you made no comment about that. What good is V4 if I cant get it to work   :-(

Suggestions on getting it working ?

Also, I do not understand why you need a working server to make V3 work.. ? Perhaps a quick explanation would help - Why cant one just enter the existing good known registration number someplace in the registry to 'activate' the program ?

Thanks

Hi Manfred,

You said you got V4 installed but could not get groups. That'll be due to the format change.

You can enter groups manually (Groups--> New Group) but it will only work for non Neo groups.

Vis-à-vis V3.. yes I suppose you could frig the registry but god knows what you'd need to enter there.

You'd need to isolate the registration function in V3's VB code and run it in a debugger to see what it should output for a given set of user details.

Also... whatever's going wrong in V3 for it lose the registration won't be fixed by altering the registry.

If it fails to find the registration that already exists, it won't find any new registration either.

In order to just view groups you can import the database from V3 into V4. That will add all yours groups & messages automatically.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Hi Manfred,

Were you able to import your groups to V4?

If not, I may be able to contact the original programmer of V3 and ask him to disable the registration function.

It should be just a case of changing the "is-registered" variable to a constant and re-compiling.

Cheers,

Wilson.
