Hi! I downloaded the Lite version to test it out, and am trying to figure out if it is what I need.

Basically, I am looking for a way to archive, and be able to access and possibly forward, messages from several groups that could be shut down. I have been reading this forum, and the help section of the software, and have come to the conclusion that the help applies to the fully purchased version, since there are things referenced that are no where in any drop down.

Additionally, from my reading I see that the messages are stored on my C disk by default, and that will not work - I need them stored elsewhere, and at the least amount of space if possible. I tried using the export and storing them elsewhere, and the file is 1/10 the size of the one on the C disk - so did I misunderstand, or do something wrong? People on this forum talk about storing different groups in different files, with different names, and that also confuses me, since it says the name must adhere to one standard. Also, when I used the export, it overwrote the existing file, so there is no way to just append the new messages?

I'm sorry that this is so long, and no doubt I am asking some stupid questions, but I am trying to figure out what will work for me.

Thanks!!

Hi!

Basically, I am looking for a way to archive, and be able to access and possibly forward, messages from several groups that could be shut down. I have been reading this forum, and the help section of the software, and have come to the conclusion that the help applies to the fully purchased version, since there are things referenced that are no where in any drop down.

>>>> The Lite version is 100% the same as the full version. Otther than the 3 group limit.

>>>> In Export you can choose to export a selection (for example, just the new messages).

I'm sorry that this is so long, and no doubt I am asking some stupid questions, but I am trying to figure out what will work for me.

Hi again!

Ok, in the help section, it referred to Groups-> Get Groups List, and I could not find it, so that is why I figured there was a difference.

Can't find this either.

I selected all message, and then used export. I tried it again, in case I had only selected some messages the first time, and the ygroups.mdb is 53,892 kb and the file I exported to is 1,296 kb.

Ok, I re-read it, and you are referring to archive files in the part I was reading.

So if I export the first 100 messages, then export 101-200, it will not overwrite - will it append?

I also tried the forward function, and it is not working. I used my outgoing email server but clearly I am doing something else wrong.

Again sorry for so many questions.

Thanks!

Hi Daniel,

  What OS are you using?

Can you send me a screenshot of how your screen looks when you click on the Groups menu item at the top of the PG Offline screen?

Please email me at wilson (at) wilsonlogan.com
