Out of my 35 lists, 2 have started getting the 'Invalid page format' message, unfortunately, the main ones for me - YLCommittee and younglearners.

Is there anything I can do?

Hi Dennis,

Can you fire up PGO in debug mode and send me the results?

Cheers,

Wilson.

As recommended here logged into Yahoogroups through IE and  set up 2 secret questions. Started PG, all groups downloaded with no difficulty.

Is it hopelessly naive to suggest trying to make contact with Yahoogroups so they tell PG what is going on instead of leaving us to guess and experiment? We take nothing from Yahoogroups. on the contrary, the groups are made more accessible.

Hi Dennis,

Well, one very big group owner (biggest group on Yahoo actually) told me that she was recommended to use PGO by the Yahoo groups team with whom she has a very good relationship. She said she'd ask them to contact me for a chat but nothing ever came of it so you can read into that what you will.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Wilson, how do you fire up PGO in debug mode?

I'm currently getting the following on all my groups:
Quote
30/08/2009 12:07:43 >  Authorization started
30/08/2009 12:07:45 >  Authorization accomplished
30/08/2009 12:07:45 >  Receive next page with members
30/08/2009 12:07:45 >  Error : Invalid page format.

The username & password are correct & the group is working & accessible.

Wilson Logan

Hi,

Open a DOS window and navigate to your PG Offline install folder (probably C:/Program Files/PG Offline/PGO/) and start PG offline with the command

pgoffline25.exe - debug

while the program runs all the raw HTML it captures will be logged in a Log folder (probably C:/Program Files/PG Offline/PGO/Log).

Have a look at the output, particularily that produced just before an error occurs.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Done that & still nothing works.
I get:
Quote31/08/2009 10:30:23 >  Application was started
31/08/2009 10:30:23 >  Application was started
31/08/2009 10:30:31 >  Set group's info (group1)
31/08/2009 10:30:31 >  Authorization started
31/08/2009 10:30:32 >  Authorization accomplished
31/08/2009 10:30:32 >  Request number of messages
31/08/2009 10:30:34 >  Number of messages : 1501
31/08/2009 10:30:34 >  Set group's info (group2)
31/08/2009 10:30:34 >  Authorization started
31/08/2009 10:30:36 >  Authorization accomplished
31/08/2009 10:30:36 >  Request number of messages
31/08/2009 10:30:36 >  Error : Invalid page format.
31/08/2009 10:30:36 >  Set group's info (group3)
31/08/2009 10:30:36 >  Authorization started
31/08/2009 10:30:38 >  Authorization accomplished
31/08/2009 10:30:38 >  Request number of messages
31/08/2009 10:30:39 >  Error : Invalid page format.

and so on ?

PS - this was from a logfile in the PGO folder, there is no log folder.

Wilson Logan

Hi,

The log folder will be full of HTML files.

Can you do me a favour and do a Windows Search for folder starting with "Log".

Depending on your OS it may not be located in C:/Program Files/PG Offline/PGO/

Actually you can also look for MSCNT*.html all the log files are prefixed MSCNT_

BTW if you've got Windows Vista you may have to turn UAC off temporarily. UAC will stop applications creating and writing to their own folders. And if it does allow it the filkes may end up somewhere wierd like C:/ProgramData.

I've just noticed that some groups are working for you and some aren't. When that happens it's quite often the case that the groups that are working are public groups and those that aren't are groups which require authorisation. This means that either your login details in PG Offline are incorrect or Yahoo is throwing a login page that PG Offline does not recognise. This thread describes a recent example:

I am using Windows Vista Premium.

I am running PGO Version 3.0.77 in trial mode.

The option set the logging to "C:\Program Files\PG Offline\PGO\pgoffline.log" and that file is there.

I can find no other related log folder or the files you mention.
(I did a full search of the PC).

Despite rebooting etc it still reports the same faults.

I do not use IE, I use Firefox although IE8 is installed.
Does PGO use either of these when getting the groups?

It will not list any groups either:
Quote31/08/2009 20:50:25 >  Authorization started
31/08/2009 20:50:28 >  Authorization accomplished
31/08/2009 20:50:28 >  Get group's list
31/08/2009 20:50:28 >  Error : Invalid page format.
The Yahoo groups seem to be OK there.

Could this be an issue with firewalls etc? cant see it as it is getting to the group just no further, if it could
then what ports etc are used?

??????

Wilson Logan

Hi,

PGO uses IE to get the messages. Having *only* IE8 installed may be an issue. Most people have upgraded from IE6 to 7 to 8 so all the older code was once installed and is still available to programs like PGO. If you don't ever use IE then you won't miss IE8. I would suggest uninstalling IE8 and installing IE6 or 7.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Wilson,
I only had trouble with 2 Yahoo Groups. Naturally, the 2 I am most interested in getting!!

Went online and tried to sign in. Got the 2 questions. Filled them out. Accessed my Yahoo email.

Then went into PG Offline before closing IE. I was now able to get the 2 problem groups. Shut down IE. Still able to access those 2 groups. Hopefully, Yahoo won't throw a monkey wrench in the works again.

Thanks for the info.

Hi Mary,

Thanks for sharing your experience. Its interesting to know when Yahoo roll these things out.

I gave up, it never stopped with the problem.

Pity, I guess its never going to work for me so I'll be uninstalling it now that its useless to me.

Sorry Wilson, but something not quite right with it if many people are having this problem.

Wilson Logan

Hi Matti,

Please try the lastest verion:

Cheers,

Wilson.

Try also going to group settings and putting in the login password there.
