I started downloading one of my groups (it worked great!) but after several thousand messages, it just stopped and would not download past that message.  I did that yesterday, and tried again today.  It still just times out and does not resume past that same message.

What should I do to get the rest of the messages?  There are still a couple of thousand left.  Is it just a matter of waiting a certain amount of time and trying again?  If so, how long do you think I would typically need to wait to get it to work?  Or is it something else.

Thanks for the help!

BigGuy

PS: I have a dynamic IP and I have changed it several times.  Not sure if it is a factor, but it didn't seem to help.

Whats the error message you're getting ?

If it says 'You have been locked by Ebay' then you need to wait a few hours to get back on.

If it says 'Unable to connect to server'  (or something to that effect) then either you've got a firewall running which is blocking PGO or Yahoo is down for maintainance.

Cheers,

Wilson.

I don't get any error message.  It just downloaded messages up to a cretain message, and then stopped (I get the timeout dialog box).  No matter how many times I try to refresh now, it will not get any more messages past the last one it downloaded (even though there are more messages after that).

When I try to refresh, it authenticates, gets the number of messages in the group and then it just times out while trying to get the next set of messages.  I can't get anything beyond that message.

BigGuy

Here is the last thing it shows in PG

12/26/2005 7:52:30 PM >  Receive message : 12982

But it never gets this message.  It just keeps timing out.

Wilson Logan

Have you tried any other groups?

BigGuy

OK I just tried two other groups.  One group seemed to download messages normally (although I don't know how far it would get because I stopped it).  But it seemed to be working fine.

The other group ended like this...
12/26/2005 9:22:37 PM >  Request number of messages
12/26/2005 9:22:42 PM >  Error : Invalid page format.

I went back to the original group I was trying to get.  It still will not get any messages past the one it is stuck on.  It just times out.  It woked fine up to that point, and then just stopped.

BigGuy

How frustrating!  I tried starting a new database and redownloading all the messages from scratch.  It worked fine until it got to exactly the same message (#12982) and then it just stopped again and timed out!

I looked at that message in my browser to see if I could se anything special about it, but it looks like any other of the messages that downloaded just fine.

I tried setting up yet another database and starting the downloading from message #12982 instead of message #1.  Same problem, it timed out.  So then I tried starting from 12983 (just in case it had something to do with that particular message).  Same problem.

It simply refuses to get messages beyond 12981!

BigGuy

OK, I narrowed it down to a block of about 100 messages in the group that I cannot get with PGO.  I was able to get all the messages before this block and all the messages after the block, but I cannot get any of the messages within that block of messages.

What group is it? I'd be interested to see this.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Wilson... may I contact you privately by e-mail about this?  It's a very odd problem.  If I try to get any messages inside of that block, it seems to be downloading them, but then just times out and they never show up in the message list.  As I mentioned, all other messages before and after the block download and show up just fine.  I started a new database and repeated the whole thing.  And the exact same thing happened.

Thanks.
