Improper Date handling

I'm evaluating PG Offline as a possible export tool from Yahoo into another forum format, but it appears that it grabs the Date: tag from the Yahoo message instead of the date the message was posted.  This means that, in a forum sorted by post dates instead of Yahoo IDs, a message may appear in an improper chronological order, because the recDate does not contain the date the email was posted.  In some cases, the reply actually appears before the initial thread post.

Otherwise, I'm very happy with the progress of the product.

Any suggestions?

We've known about this for a while. We even have some groups with messages from the 1970s. Yahoo just believes whatever you tell it in your header. I'm not aware that Yahoo keeps a separate 'received date' field or anything like it so we can't know what the real date is.

In File--> Check Database Integrity there's an option to 'fix invalid message dates'. Basically what this does is if it spots a duff date it takes the date of the message before and after & makes a guess at the correct date. The date may not be spot on but it corrects the error you mention.

See.. we do think of everything :)

Cheers,

Wilson.

The proper date does exist in the Yahoo message "View source" view, but not in the "Message Summary" view - that's Yahoo's fault for picking the wrong date for the "Message Summary" view.

I ran the integrity function a few times, trying to check and recheck the "Fix dates" option, and it didn't fix the dates (ver 2.5.42)  (because they are all formatted correctly, just out of order?).  But you have hit on the answer - all I need to do is to write a routine which compares the date of the next record in the DB to the date of the current record - if the next record date occurs previously, I'll simply rewrite the next record with the current record date, plus 1 minute. Sweet!

Are you sure? Can you give me an example (group & msg #) ?

Once again, can I have an example ? Preferably from a public group or one that does not require approved membership (unless you're the owner).

Thanks,

Wilson.
