many missing messages

I just installed the latest patch (2.5.41).

Many messages are missing when I try and obtain them. For example, with 'clubmedferrets' there were at least 300 new messages in the last week. However, messages were only obtained up to 11.2003.

I was having this difficulty before the patch, too.  :(

Hi,

The group requires membership so I can't check it directly. Do you have an example where this is happening in a group which has public archives or which you run & can give me access?

Thanks,

Wilson.

Wilson,

With regard to patch 41, Has the the incorrect parsing of messages that include forwarded or copied previous message material been addressed?

If so how do I now go back and correct the faulty DLs?

Wilson,

I haven't verified this, but I have notices when I look at  the yayoo site that messages from users who use Incredimail display differently. I wonder if some of the missing messages are from incredimail users? I do not have time to do it today, but I will check into it sometime this week. So far I have not had any missing messages.

Speaking of... Here's a tip. When you come across a message that is not parsed correctly. delete the message. When the next patch comes out, use the get miissing messages function to get the messages - they should download correctly. This has worked for me in the past.

I just started the program again; it said that the database was at about 98% of it's capacity. Maybe this was the problem? I'm going to delete that database, all of the groups, get the list, add just the 'ClubMedFerrets', and try to get all the messages again.

I didn't delete my old database until after I was sure that the new database was working.

As far as the capacity thing goes - maybe try dividing the database in half. It's easier to create two new databases and then import each half than to export and delete half of the database and compact it down to the correct size. In my experience, anything above 90% capacity starts acting wierd. That could be my wacky PC - which I'm about to reformat.

Hi Manfred,

The incorrect parsing of messages should be fixed in 2.5.041.

Tammis suggestion is good & workable but if the problem was in a reasonably small group or is confined to a narrow range of messages within a group I would recommend redownloading the entire group or range. You can set a range by right clicking on the groupname in the group list pane and choosing Group Settings, then in the Download Settings tab you can set the first & last messages to download.

Cheers,

Wilson.
