Invalid page format

I'm having trouble gettings started with PG Offline.  I recently installed version 2.50.014 and had the same trouble as some others getting the group list.  I checked the FAQ here and found that the database I was after, FMTuners, could be downloaded here (thanks!) so I got it and imported it successfully.  But now when I try to update it I get: Error : Invalid page format.  I also get this same error (consistently over the past few days) when I try to get the group list or manually add a second group.

Any ideas?

Karst,

I've seen it as well & we're working on a solution. I have been however, still able to add groups manually.

I'll try adding a new one to see what happens now.

Cheers,

Wilson.

OK, I take it back.. it seems to be working fine now.

Actually the problem I had only affected one of my ID's and not the other but both are now working.

BTW What version are you running?

Thanks,

Wilson.

I am using 2.5.14 and just tried to 'Receive Messages' again for FMTuners (and another group) a moment ago and got the Invalid Page error.  I can still browse any of the Yahoo Groups manually online without problem.  I hope you can find the problem because I'd love to update that group.   Please let me know if I can add any info to help.

How many groups do you have in your copy of PGO? How did you add them? Manually or with Groups List?

BTW here's your update:

Terrific, thanks!  ;D

I have only two groups right now, though I've tried deleting the second one and it doesn't help.  I added them manually because I couldn't get the Group List.  I still can't get the Group List (Invalid page format).

I have a fairly simple WinXP setup with DSL and no firewall.  I would happily delete the groups or re-install and do it differently if it would help.

Karst,

I think you should uninstall the whole lot, reboot and do a plain vanilla re-install of  2.5.014.

Be very carefull when you set up your Master Login to get your details correct.

Please let me know how you get on.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Karst,
I don't know if this applies in your situation, but I discovered the hard way that the group names are case sesitive when PGO requests a page. Of course, this is only an issue when you set up the group manually.

see the following thread:

Thanks guys.  I uninstalled, rebooted and reinstalled.  'Get List' still produced the 'Invalid page format' error.  When I manually added FMtuners (with correct case) then tried downloading messages I got the same error.

Please let me know if you come up with something or else it looks like this nice program is a no go for me.

Karst,

You haven't got access to another machine by any chance? It would be nice of you could try PGO elsewhere. At least that would tell us that its something to do with your particular machine or your particular login details.

BTW please send me a full screen shot of the PGO screen when you do a Get Groups List & a Refresh.

Karst,

Does your password contain ANY non-alphabetic or characters?

Hmmmm... did you get my emailed suggestion vis-a-vis our test user account?

Cheers,

I had missed your e-mail but now I have it.  The test user account gave the same results with the same Invalid page format error.  By the way, you asked about another computer.  I do have a laptop (also WinXP) which shares the same internet connection with my desktop.  I tried the latest version of PGO on it and I get the same results as on the desktop, using either my user account or your test account.

Out of interest, I tried uninstalling and installing an older version 2.0.180 to see what it would do.  It actually seemed to get further.   With either account, 'Get Groups List' gives the following:

> Authorization started
> Authorization accomplished [I don't get this message with the new version]
> Get group's list
> Error: Invalid page!

Also, when I manually add a Group then try to download messages for it on this older PG Offline version, it actually tries to download each message and gives an Invalid page format error for each message (see the screenshot I sent you).  The new version stops trying after giving a single error message.  Maybe this is just because the error reporting and handling has changed between versions, but I thought I would mention it in case it helps.

In File--> Options--> Workflow (v 2.5.17) try checking 'Skip Authorisation' (make sure you're signed into Yahoo already) and try adding a group manually & then try downloading it.

Cheers,

Wilson.
