How about expanding the scope of PG Offline to include the Yahoo Message Boards on Yahoo Finance.  There used to be a program Called DDingo that attempted to automate this, but it does not appear to be actively maintained (and was not nearly as good as PG Offline from a user interface perspective).

Eddie,

Please suggest a public group I can test this out on.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Dear Mr. Dingo,

When you've got a user board that I can advertise PGO on, I'll let you advertise on this one.

Cheers,

Wilson.

It would be nice if it could also archive google groups.  Google has one of the oldest USENET (NNTP/newsgroups) archives.  They go back to 1981.  It's hard to find a archive like that anywhere else.  I would love that to be added.

If not, does anyone know of any programs that will do that?

As a back burner project we are creating a series of plug-ins for PGO which will let you download any board or group you want. Each plug-in will be available separately priced. Its not fair to make people who just want Yahoo groups functionality pay for the development of say, an interface to phpBB.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Wilson,

I love this idea of plug-ins! So far there are smartgroups, majordomo, google, usenet, MSN, and others that you guys can play around with, I'm sure.  However, I am on one listserv list that archives it's messages via HTML. I could use one of those programs that downloads sites and get the messages that way, but why do that if It's same exact structure I get in my web browser online? Not to mention it wouldn't be searchable.

I don't know if it's even feasible, but it would be nice to have this groups archives, for two reasons. PGO's search functions are more thorough, and the messages if not set to individual emails come as attachments which outlook express cannot read - so I have to go to the site to read any new messages that look interesting, anyway. So, it would be one of those "nice to have" functions that allows me to have a PGO database of this list.

There's a big warning about not copying messages though, I don't know if it would be considered a no-no or not, since I have no intention of passing on any of the archives to anyone not subscribed to the list. Not to mention - the archives are public.

I certainly agree with the warning, since it is a list for professionals in the field of lactation, and someone who does not understand the full thread can take something out of context easily, and while they may have the best of intentions, can cause harm.

Tammi,

If you're copying it for your own use it would be OK.

Cheers,

Wilson.
