Yahoo Group to MyBB, SMF?

I was wondering if anyone on here has advice on how to use PGOffline to help facilitate moving to MyBB or SMF from Yahoo Groups? I know there is a phpBB converter but everything I've read about phpBB indicates it is a pain to admin and update when you have plugins installed.  I'd prefer to use MyBB or SMF (Simple Machine) for migrating the Yahoo Group.

I see Wilson recommended going from phpBB to SMF.

I'm sure other people have had this issue too.  Are there any scripts for merging and importing all the data with new users?  Free or paid?

Any tips, suggestions, advice for doing this is appreciated.

Hi,

I used to have a set of php scripts to take a PGO V3 database and load it to phpBB (2.0?).

Of course that was V3.

V4 has a totally different database.

I think if you want to go to SMF then you should look and see if there any convertors from anything to SMF.

You can maybe hijack the input side of the converter by feeding it formatted data out of the V4 database.

That way you don't need to worry about creating the SMF messages & members database, etc.
You only need to give the converter data it can understand in a format it can read.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Kicking around on http://www.simplemachines.org/community this seems to be something other people are wondering about but nobody has an ideal solution for easily moving over to SMF or other open source forum software.

Any tips for formatting the data? Do you know any scripts, paid or free?

I guess I'll wait until the phpBB forums are back up and see what they say there.

I would choose a BB format that already has a written and supported import program

e.g. vBulletin or phpBB.

That way all you need is to convert the PGO V4 database into something that can be imported.

Wilson.

I'm surprised adamdavi3s hasn't used the download members option in PGO.

In any case I can convert your Yahoo group to phpBB. Contact me here:
