Hi Thomas,

The best thing to do is create a new database and transfer some of your groups to the new database.

1) Create a new Database with File--> New Database.
2) Export (File->Export to Folder) some of your groups.
3) Import (File-> Import from Folder) them to the database you have just created.
4) Delete the exported groups from the original database. Now your groups are split over two databases.
5) Do a File--> Compact Database on the original database to recover the space.

Cheers,

Wilson.

1) Create a new Database with File--> New Database.

- Did this.

2) Export (File->Export to Folder) some of your groups.

- Think I did this.  Can't tell, I can't open the new database.  It says that the data base format is invalid, says it may be an archive file and to use import file.  How can I import file when I can't open the data base to import to?

3) Import (File-> Import from Folder) them to the database you have just created.

- Can't open the database to be able to import to.

4) Delete the exported groups from the original database. Now your groups are split over two databases.
5) Do a File--> Compact Database on the original database to recover the space.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Hi,

What version of PGO are you running?

Thanks,

Wilson.

Hi, Wilson--

I have the same problem, although my message says "91% full".  I get an irrecoverable error which ends PGO when I attempt to pack the database.  I've also unloaded several large groups, and deleted them, but still can't pack.  I'm running 2.5.43.

Thanks, and I hope you had a Sunny Solstice.

Hi John,

Have you got MS Access on your system?  You could try repairing the database using Tools--> Compact & Repair.

Whats the error PGO throws?

Cheers,

Wilson.

Good News and Bad News, Wilson -

The bad news is that it didn't fail the third time I tried it.

That's the good news, too.  Also, I no longer get the "91% full..." message.

Sometimes you have to scan and repair a database several times before you clear all the errors.  I assume that's what happened here.

My next step was to look at it with access, but that wouldn't show anything now.

If it happens again, I'll get more info for you.

John,

While its still working, Create a new database & export half your groups to it, then delete the exported groups from the original database & compact.

Or export half to one new database & half to another new database & scratch the original database.

Make a backup first before doing anything.

Cheers,

Wilson.
