Build 4.0.814

This build moves PG4 to .NET 4.5.2 which will require a large .NET update on your computer as well as a reboot. But it only will need to be done once.

The order events that will happen are: Install .NET 4.5.2, reboot, install PG4 4.0.814.

Change Log:
Upgraded: move to .NET 4.5.2 (reboot might be required when notified)
Implemented: button icons now enable/disable based upon availability of the action (ex. Reply disabled when no message selected)
Fixed bug: group stats column sort exception
Fixed bug: refresh of all groups can not be cancelled of no group was selected first
Fixed installer: required templates now included

I just tried build 4.0.814, upgrade to .NET 4.5.2 and installed okay. Downloaded one of my groups but I think Yahooie
locked me out, running with default settings :)

Also is the new version going to require purchase again since it's a major version upgrade? I only ask because my
original registration information is no longer available. I wouldn't mind paying for the upgrade anyway, it's worth it!

Hi Ron,

When I setup PGO I didn't want to charge every year as I never liked subscription software. It always seemed such a rip to keep paying for something even though nothing was ever improved.

Now, that might have been a valid argument for a Word or Paint type program but PGO relies on Yahoo & as we know, they change stuff willy nilly. Since I started PGO 10 years ago, it has had, on average, an update release every 6 weeks. Clearly, the ongoing development work has to be paid for somehow.

However, it was sold to existing users as a one off lifetime purchase therefore, as of the go live of version 4 there will be a small yearly subscription fee ($5 - $10) for new users and a request for a small donation from existing users. Its not fair to impose a fee on people who have already purchased the program in good faith.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Hi Wilson,

Thanks for the update and when v4 goes live make sure you have a donate button available please.

Still looking for my old registration codes, 4 computers ago so it may be history, any way to recover it?

Hi Ron,

There will be a completely new registration function implemented in PGO V4.

Everyone on the old registration database will be migrated to the new database.

Cheers,

Wilson.

I got it to work by selecting "auto download and install".

I can confirm that 814 crashes on the standard settings when trying to update.

Checking automatically download & install fixed it for me too.

New build 4.0.816 is available.

This build addresses import/export of messages.

Reminder that in "Options" you can enable use of the cache server.   It greatly helps downloads speeds when you need to re-download messages; and it is a friendly thing to do for Yahoo in order to limit unnecessary traffic. Be a good neighbor and enable it; but the choice is yours.

Hi Dan,

For the benefit of those who have just tuned in, can you tell us what's new/fixed in 816?

Thanks,
