Crash after a few messages

Getting started again after not using PGO for a while due to computer upgrades.

I installed 3.0.84 and noted the 10 day eval period. Set up a group and started DLing. PGO crashes after about a dozen messages. Windows error dialog appears and I have to terminate the program. I restart and the same thing occurs.

This is on Win 7 with a dual core CPU.

I then tried again but entered my registration info before attempting to DL - now it works ( at least with the one group)

I may be mistaken - but I dont think the eval period is supposed to crash the program intentionally... ?

No, the eval period shouldn't crash Win 7!

Did you manage to capture any error reports?

What can i send you ? I looked in the install directory for a log file as indicated in the options dialog - none there... ???

I meant the Windows generated error report.

You can get this (I think!) in Windows 7 using the Event Viewer:

Sorry - no log about that event that I could find

But - what happened to the PGO log?
The settings point to the program files area - there in no log in the PGO directory

Hi Manfred,

The PGO log is created when running in debug mode but thats no use to you as its only used to debug format errors, not crashes.

The system to investigate crashes (in Windows 7) is the Windows Event Viewer. In previous versions Windows provided a quite detailed error report (appcompat.txt) without that sort of data I'd be just making random guesses at the problem.

Is is Windows 7, 32 or 64 bit you're having problems with?

Oh - Just to add context:

I clicked on 'open database' - gave it a name - gave login info -got groups - made selections - clicked refresh - about a dozen messages on the first group came in and  - CRASH

Yes, its the same module as before (mscomctl.ocx).

You should update this with the file I sent or you could install all the Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 Common Controls
