Is it possible to have an option to pull in the Yahoo group messages with their full headers in the archive?

I don't think so. We only have access to what Yahoo gives us.

Go into Yahoo online, pick a message, do View as Source.

Can you find the headers in there? If yes, we can have headers, if no, then... no.

A cursory glance says they're not there. I'm open to 2nd opinions.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Well ... I did as you suggest in two groups.  One where I am a moderator/owner and the other where I am just a member.  The "view as source" brought up the full headers in each.  Looks promising as far as that goes.   The default of course is always the shortened headers so that does create an extra requirement.  One suspects, triggering the full headers before each is downloaded would take a lot of processing time, assuming it is feasible.

Hi Wally,

I think we have a difference of opinion on what is meant by "full headers".

Can you send me the full source of an example message & the part you mean is the "full headers" separately?

My email address is wilson.logan (at) ntlworld.com

Thanks,

Wilson.

OK:
A message with attachments of the default display and the "show source" display is on the way.

OK, thanks Wally.

Wilson,

Have you made a decision on this yet?  I'd be interested as a way of tracking down shills and trolls.  I've been keeping all my email messages for header info as well as all the messages in PGO.  It'd be nice to get rid of the email messages.

Hi Lorraine,

I got Wallys email. I think the problem is that he's sent me the source of his messages as viewed in Yahoo Mail, not Yahoo Groups.

The headers don't appear to be available in the Groups message and PGO doesn't read Yahoo mail. Not yet anyway!

Cheers,

Wilson.

That's interesting.

As the Wopper computer says in "War Games" as it begins its game simulation to destroy the world...... "What's the difference?"

We do use SBC - Prodigy - Yahoo as an ISP.  However, those headers are visible no matter what login name I use.  Moderator/owner or another.
Just click on "Show Source"

Wally

PS: I just went over to a "non-moderator" address member of our Freecycle Network group and looked.  In the lower right corner of the message received in that box it says "full headers".   Clicking on that shows the detailed header information so somehow it is in the message sent to that box.

PS2: Then I went to the "non moderator" email box, set the display to full headers and forwarded the message to another email box.   It comes in with full headers showing.

PS3: Then I went to the "non moderator" email box, just forwarded the message to the other email box as is.  It comes in without full headers showing.  So then click on "Headers  - All" in View  (Netscape browser) and up they come. :) :)

Yes, OK. You're right. I'm being dim again.

I can add this to the development queue but there's about 30 other items ahead of it so....

Actually, If we can get some development time I think I'll list all the  items in the queue & have people vote on the top 5 we should tackle first rather than just have at them in received order.

Cheers,

Wilson.

OK .... lets all give one "attaboy" to Wilson.  :)

I wish I had the skill to do what PGOffline already does, not to mention all the mods folks can think of.

A vote is always a good idea.

i love the idea of a running list with a vote option!  any updates on that suggestion?

It depends on what Alex (the developer) is up to. I only borrow him when he's free so he needs a quiet period to do our work in.

I'll ask him & get back to you here.

Wilson.
