I am a brand new user. The first time I tried I downloaded a few messages successfully. Now, however, for the last 2 to 3 days, whenever I try I get the message "Yahoo servers appear to be offline or your IP has been temporarily locked out." I see some older messages on the forum about this, but could not find a solution. Any thoughts?

Hi Charlotte,

Can you login to Yahoo Groups online?  I.e. using a browser?

If so, you are not locked out and PGO is interpreting a lack of internet connectivity as you being locked out.

Let me know how you get on. There are things we can try.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Yes sorry i should have said. I have no problem getting on to Yahoo, so I'm not blocked in general from the listserv. Other solutions are welcomed!

By the way, I just successfully downloaded messages from a different Yahoo listserv, so it is just particular to the one listserv (of course that I primarily want to access).

However, note t he question I posted under "i need help," with regard to the next step I tried to take with the successful download.

In sum I have two issues:
a) inability to download from one listserv
b) inability to get access to a group export in a tabular format

Thanks for any ideas!

Hi Charlotte,

If you've got one group that won't download but others will then it may be an issue with your Master Login details in PGO.

If the group(s) that will download are public groups and the group that won't download is private then its an odds on certainty that your username and password in PG Offline are incorrect. Or... not the same as the group you're trying to download from. PGO supports multiple identities. You can have a different username and id for each group.

The details you set in Master Login are only used as defaults when you add a new group.

The group itself can have any username & id.

The way to check is to right click on the group name and choose Group Settings--> Group Logon

The username may be set as "default" and the password is disguised with "*".

I would suggest overtyping the word "default" with your real username and overtype the stars in the password field with your real password. Then choose the "OK" button.

So sorry, but these are identical private listservs started by the very same identity, and for which I u se the very same login ID and password. Any other ideas?

Hi Charlotte,

I'm not saying your IDs are wrong in Yahoo, I'm just wondering how they're set in PGO.

Can you email me a screenshot of PGO when you try to download the group that won't work.

Also a screenshot of the Group Logon window  (right click group name, choose Group Settings--> Group Logon)

My email is wilson (at) wilsonlogan (dot) com

Cheers,

Wilson.
