Getting started.

Downloaded V4 as suggested in other thread.

Imported V3 messages.

When try to get new messages, get error message:
Receiving messages for group Baofeng-UV-B5
Logging with jakebrake007. Group - Baofeng-UV-B5
Failed to retreive groups messages count.
Downloading completed.

Also, Under Help, Product Registration is greyed out.

Hi Brad,

As you may be aware, Yahoo have altered the groups format to something they call "Neo".

As has become customary with YG! they have simply dropped this change on us with no prior warning or consultation.

The change is major and anyone who has been moved to the "Neo" format will no longer be able to use PG Offline to get new messages.

Clearly this change is my number one priority and I will be working on updating PG Offline to work with this new format.

It is, however a fairly major change and I do not expect to be able to fix this quickly.

Please accept my apologies in advance for this interruption of service.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Hi Wilson,

I don't want to be pushy, but I wonder if you can give us an estimate when a solution might be available?

I'm not sure where Neo came from, but I hate trying to read messages direct from Yahoo.  You've spoiled me with PG Offline.

Hi Brad,

I can't say for sure. A lot of things happened in a perfect storm kind of a way.

First my developer left. I can't blame the guy. PG Offline just a part time thing for him and he got a good permie job.
Its was all very amicable and he left me all the code.

Second the host of the registration server went bust which means no new V3 registrations.

    Third... Neo happened.

I have a friend who's super-smart (CTO of a tech company) and he's picked up the baton for V4 development but clearly he can only do it at the weekend. Mind you, this guys weekend of work might equate to any normal programmer over a week.

So, once again we're a bit in limbo. What I'll do is contact him & get a guestimate out of him.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Brad

Wilson,

Would you give us an update?  Making any progress?

Brad

Hi Brad,

Yes, one of the users (Dan) has pitched in to help. His latest version can download messages from some groups.

I don't want to ask him to make a release until it can get messages from most if not all groups.

So, not long now...

Cheers,

Wilson.

Thanks Wilson.  Good to get PG Offline back Online!  I've used the old version for so long, getting use to V4 will take a little time.  Has a little different look and feel.

Question:  When I open the program, it shows 89 days left in trial.  I assume I will need to insert a code to unlock the program, but when I hit help, "Product Registration" is greyed out

Is this a problem or are we playing with a beta version and that hasn't been implemented yet.

Brad

Brad,

Yes, its a beta.

Expect a raft of things not to work.

Once we get the message/files/photos downloading working, the next thing to be sorted will be registration.

Hence the 90 day trial.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Brad

Wilson,

My 90 day trial about to expire.  Have we had any updates in the last 3 months?  Download and reinstall or what?

Brad

Hi Brad,

Install this one:

http://www.personalgroupware.com/groupmanager/pg-offline-4-r800-setup.zip

It should be later than your version. If not let me know soonest.

Best email me directly  wilson (at) wilsonlogan (dot) com

I have the latest installation and it only has 10 days left on the trial.  A "new" version with a later expiration date would be nice, even if it doesn't have any improvements.  I could at least access the info I have.

Hi Duane,

I've asked Dan to compile a new version for exactly this reason.

Cheers,

Wilson.
