As of July 19, 2010, all but two of my seven groups stopped downloading messages.

No error messages - "walks" through all 7 groups and does not get any messages.

MyOlympus is an example of one that doesn't work and KevlarCanoe (I'm the owner of that one) is one that does.  I am the owner of another one that does not update.

Vista Home Premium (64 bit), version 3.0.84 (upgraded to see if that helped - didn't).  Any suggestions?

Hi,

I think that Yahoo may have changed the URL for MyOlympus. It appears to be:

http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/MyOlympus/

note the 'tech' prefix on the usual 'groups.yahoo.com/'.

Can you check your other groups that don't work to see if they are similarly affected?

Thanks,

Wilson.

I'm pretty sure that's not it.  I have not changed my bookmarks in years, and they all still work.  I don't think they would if they changed the forum type.  If that was it, how would I change it - reload the messages?

I deleted one of the smaller groups and added it back again.  0 messages downloaded, no error messages.

As a test to confirm logon on one of the groups that does not update, I did a "Reply on Yahoo" - works fine.

One more datapoint - "Get Groups list" does nothing, even though there are several groups that are not on my current list.

Hi,

I agree that you don't need to change your bookmarks, but try clicking on one and see what happens. Yahoo does an automatic redirect so you see the group you expect but look closely at the URL. Its no longer the same. This may work fine for your browser but I'm not sure PGO can handle it.

Regarding the 'Get Groups' function.... thats more worrying as its working fine for me & so should be working for you too.

Can you email me a screenshot of what you get when you use the function?

Hello,
Since around the 17th of August, I cannot get to download any new messages on any of my groups.
I get a "Unable to find the file" message (my translation).
I cant' even get my Group list from Yahoo.
Where can I verify the address of any one group in the different tables in program files? and what would be the cause of this malfunction?
Thanks.
Pierre

There is no redirect.  The bookmark properties (http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/MyOlympus/) matches the site (http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/MyOlympus/).

Sent you a screenshot of the "Get Groups" function and list of messages.

Tested in PGOLite

- KevlarCanoe downloaded just fine (after the expected "Automation detected" and restart).

- Messages with Olympus_E-system follows:
8/22/2010 9:32:22 AM >  Set group's info (Olympus_E-system)
8/22/2010 9:32:22 AM >  Authorization started
8/22/2010 9:32:23 AM >  Authorization accomplished
8/22/2010 9:32:23 AM >  Request number of messages
8/22/2010 9:32:24 AM >  Error : Invalid page format.

- Messages with MyOlympus follows:
8/22/2010 9:35:22 AM >  Set group's info (MyOlympus)
8/22/2010 9:35:22 AM >  Authorization started
8/22/2010 9:35:23 AM >  Authorization accomplished
8/22/2010 9:35:23 AM >  Request number of messages
8/22/2010 9:35:24 AM >  Error : Invalid page format.

All the rest of my groups except one have the same messages (Owner_Moderator, TCCTList, asthma, etc.).

A datapoint - one of the moderator's of MyOlympus uses PGOLite.  He has no problems (XP machine).

One more datapoint.  A security patch was installed on Access 2007 July 17 (but my last PGO download on July 19, 2042 CDT worked).

For whatever reason, it started working again today.  When I started up PGOffline, all (new) members and messages started downloading.  Get Groups list works now.  Unfortunately the database appears to be corrupt (won't save messages).  Starting over.  Deleted all groups, uninstalled PGOffline, copied database over from PGOLite (saved one 100K message group), refreshing "missing" groups.  The only thing that hurts is the 120k+ message group.  Ouch.

I'm going to break up my groups and save backups.  Guess I should have been doing that.  Still would like to know what happened.

Hi,

This sort of thing used to happen a lot in the past. Yahoo would update a limited number of servers as a test and then decide they didn't like the change and roll it back. About 5 years ago this was a weekly occurance. Nowadays its a thankfully infrequent occurance. Just damn annoying when you happen to be the person its happening to!

Regarding the database... have you tried File--> Compact Database?   It doesn't mention it in the title but the Compact function also does a repair if required.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Haven't tried that - doesn't matter any more, as I'm almost done downloading.

Wilson Logan

Is your MyOlympus group working as well?

Cheers,

Wilson.

stonehollow

Yes - all 7 groups are updating.  Still working on downloading the 120K message group.

Wilson Logan

Sorry to be annoying... can you go to your MyOlympus group online and check the URL?

I've tried to download it and I still can't.

The URL I see is http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/MyOlympus/

Cheers,

Wilson.

http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/MyOlympus/ is what I have.  Just refreshed it.
