I would like to see "size" of the message (can be approximate) on the main display for the archived messages.

(I have a group where the people seem to like to reply with the whole digest included -- I don't mind going into Access and trimming the message but would be nice to know that before hand).

Also, since yahoo can't do attachments any more from the archive -- could we have the option to hide that column?  (Or if you choose not to download attachments...)

Linda,

Size is a bit tricky... the average message size is 8k. The actual size of the text part is probably less than 1k. The rest is taken up by the HTML that encloses the text part.  It'd be hard to tell from pure size how big the text element was unless is was ridiculously big.

There seems to be some problem with trying to strip text from HTML. One thing I wanted to do in the Statistics was have an 'Average Message Size' reported & I couldn't do it for this reason. Do an internet search for a program that will do a simple word count for an HTML document. You'd think there would be hundreds. I couldn't find one that counts the *text* only. I checked with translators resource sites as translators routinely need to do word counts. There was no such program there either.

Dont get me wrong... I'd love to have this feature but I can't see an easy way to do it. If anyone knows of a VB module to strip text from HTML or any other clever way to do this, I'm all ears.

What you can do if you don't want to see replies is hit the 'Hide >' button. Its not perfect but it does a not bad job.

Regarding attachments... pull the attachments column over to the right. You can pull it behind the right hand side of the screen. It should stay there the next time you start the program & you wont see it again. You'll have to do that for each group though.

I think you're right. An ability to just not show it would be better & I'll add it to the developement queue.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Cheers,

Wilson.
