Anyway to Identify Discussion Threads?

Hi.

On the Yahoogroup browser based user interface, one can look at a specific discussion thread and see what topic the replies are related to.  This is pretty much the same way newsreaders or this forum works.

Is there a similar function in PG Offline to do that?  Are the messages somehow internally related to the message they are replies to?

It would be great if one can see the context of a message or identify all messages that were generated as part of a discussion.

I have just downloaded the 19,000 message group that I founded and moderate.

I'm extemely grateful for the first step.....just to have a copy of the Archive offline.

But now I need to know what I can do with it .....i.e. how to make the archive available and searcheable to my members ...ONLINE....  

We have 1500 members so spreading CD's isn't a very practical solution.    

Can you guide me some as to where I how I can now UPLOAD my information into a new online forum...?

We also have a tremendous amount of useful information in our FILES, LINKS and PHOTOS sections.   Is there a way to also download these parts of Yahoo Groups.

Also,  has the "threading" feature been added to PGO per the long discussion in the "Wishlist" section.

You can distribute your archives online for free by uploading them to the downloads page.

Zipped up, 19k messages will be about 19Mb. I recommend either doing this as one file or a series of 5Mb files.

Instructions for uploading are in the welcome email I sent you.

To answer the question about the threading... in short no. I would like to get round to it but its too much of a 'nice to have' at the moment. Other developments are taking precendent like the free read only version of PGO for Pocket PC devices.

Any hints on Forum software that I could use and upload them directly to an online  website??

What Forum software does this site use.  

I have some wishlists for my new forum.  Similar to Yahoo Groups...only with much bigger upload space and much stronger search capability.

1. Ability to import my existing archive of Yahoo Group messages..which I have dowloaded from Yahoo. ....currently in Microsoft Access database format.

2. As well as Forum sections divided by topic I would like for there to be a "Master Forum" where a copy EVERY post goes into...regardess of Topic or Section.  (Many Yahoo groups users will be used to this and like to scan all new messages in one place.)

3. Complex Searches - by any word, word cominations or specific phrases, or combination.

4. Ability to have an area separate from the inividual posts where members can upload FILES (excel, word, etc) photos, or images.

5. A links section

6. A bility to import my list of current members and mass email to each about the new Forum location.
