I have an older Yahoo Group that I downloaded last year on another PC. The group is gone, so it no longer appears on my list. I tried to import the pg4 file but it won't display saying it needs to be added to my List etc. Once a Yahoo Group is gone, will I not be able to access the messages?

Aha! I figured it out. I needed to know the exact Group name (not the file name) when I added it to my List. So for anyone else

1. Add Group to your list (Group-Add New Group). Make certain you have the correct file name (including hyphens). No need to add Username or Password
2. Use File-Import From Folder (select and check the group name)

Basically, PGO checks to see if the group exists in YG!

If it does, it expects you to be a member, otherwise it assumes the group is closed and it allows you to manually add the group name.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Wilson,

Thanks for that bit of info.  Yahoo has already started to close/remove groups that have no activity in like a long time.  Thus, when mods and owners heard of the closing, they couldn't get it restored without a cost to Yahoo to do so.  Guess the OLD signup terms had something to the effect Yahoo could pull the plug on an inactive group.

The 4 of our groups have the same owner who vanished back in 2005.  Never to be heard of again.   PGO was able to SAVE all of the groups because the owner allowed folks to join via the subscribe button without verification... BUT, one could not post.  Thus the private group was easy to get the data.

I would expect more weird and odd things to happen on the Yahoo side as we approach the final days ahead.

I agree.

More weirdness is to come.
