Title: Object reference not set to an instance of an object
Post by: sonex293 on September 15, 2014, 11:16:23 PM
I tried the workaround today to the Download Failures, i.e. Skip Authorization.  It seem to work but on two groups I get a "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error.  Here is the complete message from one of the groups:

PG Offline 4.0.818
Days left for trial use - 50
Receiving messages for group jabiruengines
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Downloading completed.

Any ideas?  This only happens on 2 out of the 16 groups I download.

It should only happen the first time you try to download a group.

Once you get the error it shouldn't happen again until you stop and restart PGO.

To get groups that have been missed during a Refresh, highlight the group name and choose the "Start" button.

That will download just that one group.

Cheers,

Wilson.

No Go.  Every time I try to download the jabiruengines group I get the message... here is what I get by clicking on the group, clicking "start" three times in a row.

Receiving messages for group jabiruengines
Downloading completed.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Michael,

Can you try choosing first your group, hit start, then another group and hit start.

I think you need to change to another group to break the initialization deadlock error.

So jabiruengines then any other group, then back to jabiruengines.

I think what's happening is that there's a 'group to download' variable that doesn't get set until you change from one group to another. After that its fine.

Cheers,

Wilson.

There is something unique about certain groups.  I tried as you asked and here's the output...

Receiving messages for group jabiruengines
Downloading completed.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Receiving messages for group Small4-strokeEngines
[Small4-strokeEngines] Downloaded and adding messages '14778' through '14778'.
Downloading completed.
Receiving messages for group jabiruengines
Downloading completed.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

PGO hasn't gotten any messages of jabiriuengines since 8/22/2014, so there are a LOT of messages to get.

Other groups that behave similarly are engines-ul2, propeller, and aerovee

Hi Michael,

That is odd. At first I'm thinking, oh look, jabiriuengines is a private group... but so is Small4-strokeEngines.

I've requested membership of jabiriuengines so we'll see what happens when I'm approved and I can try downloading it.

Cheers,

Wilson.
