When I tried to refresh my groups this evening, pgo got an "invalid page" error when it requested the number of messages. I have three groups in my list and get same error for each group. (Note: I refreshed earlier today without any problem.)
HOWEVER, I can browse the groups without any problem! (using IE, not via AOL)
I rebooted my PC *just in case*, but results were the same.
I'll try again in the morning and post the results. In the meantime, has anyone ever had this happen?
David Butler
I'm getting the same thing. Something has changed at Yahoo it seems. ::)
Monte
Dito. I can access manually. I wonder if this is specific to the new release or if they've managed to block PG Offline.
Brad
I reverted to the previous version (2.0..171) and get the same results. Guess we'll just have to wait until Wilson has a chance to analyze the problem.
Brad
I have also been getting ERROR: Invalid Page when trying to Receive Messages or Refresh All Groups. This just started happening today.
The other day I was not able to load more than 250 messages before I got cut-off and had to wait 8 hours before I could log back on to Yahoo Groups.
I am anxious to hear how to fix this situation.
<aol> me too! </aol>
I just downloaded PG Offline yesterday on my laptop at work. I played around with it and had no problems. I went home at noon, and installed it on my desktop and started downloading 300 messages every hour. No problems. When I left home this morning, it was still running fine with no errors and I was up to around 3900 messages. I'm back at work on the laptop and running into the invalid page error immediately. I can also access the group through IE.
At home I have broadband. At work, I'm on dialup. I called home and the last good download was at 0230 and I started getting the error there at 0330 cst. :(
And I only had 57000 messages to go. I hope Yahoo didn't screw it up for PG Offline. In only one day, I have really grown attached to this program.
Lorraine
Still no luck this morning. :'(
I'm sure Wilson will post a response as soon as he figures out what's going on.
David
Aside:
Some of you may have wondered why I commented in my original post (see above) that I was using IE, not AOL, when browsing my Yahoo groups. Here's why:
I no longer use AOL as my ISP. However, I wanted to keep my AOL email address. So I subscribe to AOL-BYOA (bring your own access), which means I can still log onto AOL using standard AOL software while accessing the Internet via Hughes/Direcway (satellite).
I discovered a couple of weeks ago that I can use AOL browser to access my Yahoo groups after I'm locked out using IE. This is apparently because Yahoo sees a different IP address for me when I use AOL browser, even though I'm logged on to the Internet via Direcway. I wanted to make sure Wilson didn't think that was the explanation for the current problem.
Hi Lorraine. If you're not registered, you may not have received this message from Wilson:
"Hi All,
Yahoo have changed their message format (again) & it has thrown a
spanner into the works of PG Offline.
We're working on it now & as soon as a patch is available I will let
you know.
Cheers,
Wilson."
If you're in the USA like I am, let me interpret something he said:
"Spanner = wrench"
You'd think these guys could speak english wouldn't you :-)
Just joking of course, Wilson is in England :-)
I really felt deprived last night when I had to read some messages the old way. Wilson continually makes improvements in the program, usually from user's suggestions, and it's really handy. If you haven't registered, I'm sure you will. He gets you hooked with his 30 day free offer. :-)
Brad
And I forgot to mention that the price is right too!
(Wilson - I haven't received this month's commission check :-)
Brad
Thanks, Brad.
Nope, not registered yet, but I'm sure I will be soon. I started looking for something like this simply because Yahoo's search function sucks the big one. However, I've seen so many other possibilities with this program now. The constant attention to development is great, and you're right, the price is not bad at all.
Once I get all 65K+ messages downloaded, I'm going to start suggesting it to others in the groups I'm active in, too. Just how much is that commission??? ;-)
Lorraine
Hi All,
As I mentioned in the email, Yahoo have subtly altered their message format & Alex is working on this right now. We'll have a patch available within hours.
I'll let you know just as soon as its available.
Cheers,
Wilson.
I'll mention one more thing - being serious for a moment.
If Yahoo locked us out - I'd consider the value I received within the first couple of weeks of use worth the small price of admission. I was able to download and search for several pieces of information that was impossible to find using Yahoo's search functions.
I hope Yahoo doesn't find this program a problem. It reminds me of another group I'm involved in. A small group of us send out power/data connectors for Garmin GPS on a pledge bases. When Garmin first heard about us, the initial response was a letter from their lawyers. However, within a short time they realized we were supporting their company rather than being competition.
I hope Yahoo realizes this is a supportive program that promotes use of Yahoogroups (if they even know it exist).
Brad
I doubt that Yahoo have even noticed PGO. Around about the time that Yahoo switched off the attachments they mucked about with the format of the Groups on an almost daily basis. This meant changing PGO to accomodate these changes on a just as regular a basis.
I'm surprised, not that they've changed the format but that they've been so stable for the last 6 months :)
Cheers,
Wilson.

I agree with this. I'm doing independent study to become a lactation consultant. The group that has some of the best info is very chatty, and since yahoo's search function only searches a few messages at a time, it's impossible for me to search for something about various research papers that I may have seen six months ago. An impossible task if you have to sit and click next for hours on end, hoping that you or the poster didn't mispell the word.

Hi All,
There's a patch now available to get over the Yahoo format change:
http://www.pgoffline.com/groupmanager/pgpatch20173.exe
Cheers,
Wilson.
Hi All,
Drat... it never rains but it pours...
There's a problem with the 'Get Groups List' feature probably related to this Yahoo format change.
We're working on it & we'll issue another patch ASAP.
Cheers,
Wilson.
oops
I DLed the latest version and tried it. It worked one out of 80 times I tried it. It seems that my YahooID is blocked from Yahoogroups now (maybe for some sort of hammering?)
When I tried to connect to any page on yahoogroups via the web, I kept getting this page that says: "This page is currently unavailable
Unfortunately, we are unable to process your request at this time. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please try again later."
Then I thought hmm, maybe they blocked my IP, so I connected through a porxy with a different browser. I could connect to the yahoogroups homepage, but when I tried to login with my YahooID, I got the same error (This page is currently unavailable
Unfortunately, we are unable to process your request at this time. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please try again later.)
I asked a friend on Yahoo who is on one of my groups if she could access it via the web (the only way she uses Yahoogroups), and she said yes, no problems.
Fannie,
There is a thread just concerned with the Yahoo limit here:
http://pgoffline.com/forum/index.php?board=5;action=display;threadid=17
I will send you privately the advice I give to new registered users regarding this issue.
Cheers,
Wilson.
Thank you; I will try that!
Wilson,
Would you please send that info to me, as well. That's one e-mail I never got when I registered.
Tammi
Thanks Wilson & Alex;
The speed at which you cranked out a fix for this is commendable.
I really appreciate your diligence and dedication, and this kind of support is simply incredible.
Len
Len,
We live to serve :)
Cheers,
Wilson.
Tammi,
I've re-sent you your registration email. You'll see the advice as points 1) & 2).
Cheers,
Wilson.
