Title: Problems Installing PGO Lite in Windows 7
Post by: Jim Slater on November 17, 2012, 09:05:11 PM
I just bought a new computer with Windows 7. I installed PGO Lite and started downloading messages from my timewavezero2012 group, and it started busily working away until I got to message 17,973 (out of a total of 20,395 messages). Then it slowed down to a crawl, and starting saying, Error: Message 17,974 does not exist, Error: Message 17,975 does not exist, and so on. I've checked my messages and they do, indeed, exist. In fact on my old computer, my data base was right up to date.

I've tried installing the trial version, I've tried importing other ygroups.mdb files, and nothing works. Is there a solution to this problem? I'll gladly buy the pay-for version if this will solve the problem, but as I've said, I get the same results.

Thanks,
Jim.

Actually, it picked up at message 18,422 and went all the way to the end (20,395), which is a great relief. But it insists that msgs 1,7974 to 18,422 are missing (449 msgs) but they're not.

Hi Jim,

Sorry, I can't test this. Its a private group. I can't see the messages.

One thing I can say is that its an Adult group & PGO V3 does not deal with those well.

You could try V4.

Thanks Wilson, I forgot it was an "Adult" group. Why, I don't know. That was Yahoo's idea. The content in the group is for general audiences.

You're welcome to join (NB: the group will be deleted on Jan. 4, 2013, but here's the address:  http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TIMEWAVEZERO2012 )

You have to apply to join, but let me know it's you and I will expedite your application.

BTW, I did buy the full version PGO Offline from you a few years back, and just found my registration number.

I will post a special message in the group with the link for your licensed software.

Thanks,
Jim.

Hi Wilson, welcome to the TWZ2012 group.

I tried downloading and launching the PG Offline 4 program from http://www.personalgroupware.com/groupmanager/pg-offline-4-r641-setup.zip

But it doesn't work. I'll try downloading ver. 3 and if it works, I'll certainly put my money where my mouth is.

Hi Jim,

Have a look round. I think the beta versions not very clever at adding program shortcuts (anywhere).

Do a search on your machine for

"pg offline.exe"

If you find  it, create a shortcut to the exe on your desktop.

Cheers,

Wilson.

BTW there is a new version.

I don't think it solves your specific problem but it'd be worth installing as its faster than earlier versions.

Hi Jim,

I just did a fresh install on a clean machine running Win7.

r641 does leave a shortcut on the desktop but does not leave a shortcut in 'My Programs'.

Cheers,

Wilson.
