Title: Application Error 1000: object invoked has disconnected from its clients (WIN7 )
Post by: JamesEarlOwens on October 31, 2010, 05:41:33 PM
Hi all

I can't download more than a couple messages before PGO throws this error and then crashes:
Error during save message to the database
Error information: Automation error
The object invoked has disconnected from its clients

As Wilson suggested I looked at the Event Log and found this was an Application Error (code 1000). Many online references suggest this is a VB issue. I have not had this problem with any other application. This issue has just cost me a deadline. Please let me know if you have any ideas on a fix.

thanks

James

Hi James,

PGO runs is certified on Windows 7 (32 bit only).  What we have here is a problem with your particular install of Windows 7 (or you have the 64 bit OS).

In order to diagnose what is wrong with your installation of Windows 7 I will need a little more information.

Windows 7 saves all application crash data in .wer files. Whilst Windows provides no good way to view these, there is a free utility called 'appcrashview' which will list these files and allows you to export data related to specific application crashes.

I will email you the utility (its tiny, 40k). Simply unzip the file and run the .exe

Please send me the crash data related to PGO.

Thanks,

Wilson.

I have the 64 bit version of Win7.
Will PG Offline work with that?

Its not certified to but I may be able to sort something for you.

I've sent you a copy of 'appcrashview'. Can you please run it and send me the output related to PGO crashes.

Additionally, have you tried running PG Offline in Compatibility mode?

Cheers,

Wilson.

Well same thing just happened to me - I highlighted one of the groups in my list and started 'Receive Messages' After a few PGO displayed that error message, I opened Notepad to try writing it dow since I couldn't copy the text and PGO completely closed.

Hi Manfred,

I'm not sure mscomctl.ocx is the problem James is having.

James if you could share the event log of your crash I think we'd all be interested to see it. If you are having a problem finding it, please mail me and I'll help you.

Cheers,

Wilson.
