I would like more viewing area in the message panel.
Is there plans for the bottom panel? It's only used to view status of messages as they are downloaded, after that it's completely blank.
If it's not reserved for future use (like replying to a message), maybe it could be removed and the area be used to view messages. The download status could be displayed in a popup window that expires after the download is completed.

A feature under development is the ability to close the log window entirely. We're also developing a facility to read messages one at a time in a new window using 'Back' and 'Forward' buttons to navigate (you may even have suggested this?).
Until then try the Digest mode. I find it the most convenient way to read more than one message.

There's another program I use that has a good feature that saves space, coincidentaly its called PG (Power Grap) http://www.cosmicwolf.com/
Anyway, it has a few panels all over and it had a icon at the top for every one that simply toggles them on and off. Very simple to get to and easy to use.
