Title: Are Yahoo at it again - the dreaded Error : Invalid page format
Post by: justinpwalker on July 31, 2009, 12:53:13 PM
Hi all

Well I am hoping it is a temporary fix that Yahoo are doing after the issues they have had for switching user profiles (updates to how messages are received have not been processed) but I have fully 50% of the 60+ groups I am on bouncing back with this error tonight.

Example groups CarCards, DCC4EVERYONE

Cheers

Justin

Hi Justin,

I think you may need to switch 'Skip Authorization' off.

If you have it turned on and you clear your IE cache file you will not be able to login to your group with PGO until you login to Yahoo using IE and refresh the login information.

I'm going to guess that the only groups still working for you are the public ones ie the ones that don't need authorisation.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Hi Wilson

Sorry to say that the Skip Auth was already switched off. Have run again with both on and off but no difference for the groups that are erroring. Will give them another go later  :(

Cheers

Hi Wilson

Have tried again today without success. Anyone else getting this issue across any groups?

Cheers

Hi Justin,

Can you give me an example of a public group you are getting an error on?

Cheers,

Wilson.

Hi Wilson

You can try JPWalker (my own group). This is also having the issue

Hi Justin,

JPWalker is not a public group. However, I did join it & was able to download it.

Can you please give me an example of a public group you cannot download.

You could try ms_excel

Cheers,

Wilson.

Hi Wilson
The Ms_Excel group downloaded fine. The list of groups I am having issues with are:
AMRA-Online-NZ
CarCards
DCC4EVERYONE
DCC-Sound
Espee
Free-mo
HOn3
J6-layout

Plus about a dozen more. Meanwhile other groups download fine. I am running version 3.0.77

I have the same problem for the last two days.  My problem groups are Sonexplans, Sonextalk, Vairplanes.  I tried the ms_excel and that worked fine.....

Thanks for the confirmation Chris. The timeframe (2 days) is the same as I have been having the issue

OK guys,

If you can get public but not private groups then PGO is unable to logon to Yahoo.

Have you tried looking at any of these groups in IE?  Sometimes Yahoo ask you to confirm your login. PGO should recognise that screen and handle it, but not if they've changed it recently.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Hi Wilson

Have been able to get to all the groups without a problem via IE, no additional signon windows either.

Also able to get messages for about half of the groups I belong too

Cheers

When I first logged on this morning (about 7:45 am eastern) I was getting Invalid Page Format for all my groups, which are all private.  Then a few moments later all worked fine!!  I have it set to refresh every five minutes.  Now at 2:35 pm I am getting the page format error again!

I can go to Yahoo  groups in either Firefox of IE8 and get my groups with no special password request other than the standard log-in request.

Thanks,

Chris Smith

Freaky!

Tell you what would be very instructive. Start PGO in debug mode. Do a Refresh, get some data. Quit. Try later and see if you can get the messages without error. If you can, start PGO in debug mode. Do a Refresh, get some data. Then we can compare the two sets of HTML.

The debug mode procedure is described here:

http://www.personalgroupware.com/smf/index.php?topic=639.msg3223#msg3223

The necessary file is attached to this message.

Wilson.

Wilson,

I printed out the instructions, saved the zip file, unzipped the PGO.bat file to C:\, and typed pgo.bat.  I got the following error message string:

c:\>
c:\>pgo.bat
c:\>cd..
c:\>cd..
C:\>cd Program Files
C:\Program Files>cd PG Offline
C:\Program Files\PG Offline>pgoffline25.exe -debug
'pgoffline25.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
C:|Program Files\PG Offline>

What did I do wrong?

I figured it out.  pgoffline25.exe was not in C:\Program Files\PG Offline.  It was in C:\Program Files\PG Offline\PGO. When I moved it up a level it ran.

Then during the installation it looked for the file "PG Offline.msi", which I can't find anywhere.  I hit cancel and get an Error 1706 and the program doesn't run.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Wilson

I downloaded the .bat file as well and edited it to include the next level (cd PGO) so it could access the app in its normal location. Set the .bat file off and PGO opened fine. Ran the Refresh with two groups on a temp database. one errors and the other works. Unfortunately I cannot find a LOG folder or file generated by the .bat

Cheers

Hi Wilson,

This morning I still get the invalid page format error.

However, I was trying to get pgo.bat to work, and here is what I did:

1)  I went to the DOS window
2)  I went to the PG Offline sub-directory
3)  I typed in pgoffline25.exe -debug

The program ran.

I found the Log file in C:\PG Offline\Log.  I have attached the three HTML files.

Thanks,

Chris Smith

Wilson,

I just started PGO again (from the icon) and it worked fine.  I closed it and went to DOS and started with the -debug.  Worked fine agian.  But when I go to the log subdirectory, the only files that are there are from before when it didn't work.  There are no new files from this time when it worked.

Hi Wilson,

Update.

I download four groups:

aerovee
sonexplans
sonextalk
Vairplanes

Since my last message all are still working, except aerovee.  It will not download all messages.  The last message showing is 4883.  But there are 4888 messages.  When I do a refresh and PGO logs on it shows:

8/4/2009 6:05:47 PM >  Set group's info (aerovee)
8/4/2009 6:05:47 PM >  Authorization started
8/4/2009 6:05:48 PM >  Authorization accomplished
8/4/2009 6:05:48 PM >  Request number of messages
8/4/2009 6:05:49 PM >  Number of messages : 4888

But messages above 4883 are either not downloaded, or downloaded and not displayed.

Other than that, all seems to be well.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Chris Smith

Hi Chris and Justin,

Good job on getting debug mode to work.

Chris, did you look at the HTML in the log file, I mean did you open it in IE ?  Its the Yahoo login screen. I think if you'd closed PGO, logged in to Yahoo, re-opened PGO and ran it, it would have worked.

Regarding aerovee... sorry, no guess on that. Is it public? If so I will try dl'ing it.

Justin, probably the same issue as Chris. Try logging in to Yahoo in IE, starting PGO and see what happens.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Wilson,

Latest update.

All four of my groups, all private, now work!  Aerovee has had one new message since I last wrote, message # 4889.  PGO got that one!!  But still missing are 4884 - 4888.

I'm not complaining, I can look at them in Yahoo Groups.  It's just strange that those messages don't download.

Anyway, thanks for all the help.  Have a Scottish Egg and a Lager and Lime for me!!

Best Regards,

Chris

Hi guys

Well I couldn't seem to get the log to produce so was playing around with a few things without success - still getting the error. I thought I would go back to the start and closed all windows, opened IE, cleared cache, closed IE, fired up PGO and hit Refresh. All the stars must have aligned because it ran perfectly and all groups have now dowloaded.

Will keep tracking the progress over the next few days

Cheers

Suneel,

I would say that the issue is with your login. Do you have 'Skip Authorization' on or off?

Cheers,

Wilson.

I ran into this problem and have skip authorization off.

Based on info from this thread, I tried to log in using IE and found that they have added some new questions that must be filled in before the login will work. You know the usual "Name of first pet" etc.

Once I picked 2 questions and gave answers for later use Yahoo let me in, and PG Offline is back to working.

Hi Tom,

Yes, the Yahoo question asking thing does seem a bit random as to when they request it.

Cheers,

Wilson.
