Title: Download Limits Revisited
Post by: t2000kw on July 27, 2009, 12:12:59 AM
With all of the changes to Yahoo Groups this year I thought I'd start a new thread to discuss successful settings for downloading group messages.

I haven't found a completely successful setting yet so I can't suggest one at this time. (I'm locked out of Yahoo at the moment.)

Getting locked out seems to happen due to arbitrary and changing criteria. Sometimes I can download many thousands of messages and other times downloading just a few thousand will lock me out. I am tinkering with the download speed control options now that Yahoo is playing the lockout game with me.

A few months ago it seemed that I had no limitations on how many messages I downloaded and didn't get locked out.

Hi Donald,

My personal experience is anywhere between 6000 messages and well... over 120,000 in one case.

My guess is that the lockout trigger is based on the average activity on the group so if lots of people are hitting it, you'll get less of a download. It may also be server dependant. The average activity on the server you get your messages from may determine the lockout trigger value dynamically.

Cheers,

Wilson.
