Hi All,
There is a new beta version incorporating the new DLL:
http://www.personalgroupware.com/groupmanager/PGOffline-3-0-076.exe
Currently adult groups do not work and a very small number of groups are reported as having an invalid page format but we are working on those.
Cheers,
Wilson.
Hi Wilson
I have been doing some testing this afternoon and can advise the following:
Vista 32bit Ultimate / IE8
Initial install / upgrade process was flawless.
Approx 60000 messages downloaded across 40+ groups
There were a couple of issues with a couple of the groups on the initial attempt to run the download however after PGO restarted itself I was able to simply restart the Refresh download from the top and all came back in to line.
Now that all messages are up to date PGO is back to a rock solid feel.
Have also been running a number of "Get Missing Message" tasks to see how it handles old messages. Year 2002 messages to date all downloaded no problems.
Feels great to have PG Offline back Online!! Tell me the link and I'll happily send this years maintenance and next
Cheers

I just recommended the software to another Yahoo group member, if 3.0.076 is the one he downloads for evaluation it's a sale.

3.0.76 working well here. Found a glitch on some 10 year old posts that I've forwarded to Wilson, but overall it's great to have this little program working again
I had some "trash" in some of my forums because I'd used some of the hit and miss dll's that Wilson had provided (some data was better than none), so I deleted all messages back to before Yahoo threw us this curve ball, compacted the database, reset the counter under group setting, and then reloaded several months of messages. Perfection!

Wilson suggested I try the version 3.0.77 for my group that had 10 year old messages. Worked perfectly!
So, I have a fully functional program with no problems that I'm aware of.
Brad
I want to mention that the group I was having problem with wasn't an "adult" group. Lot's of us 67 year old kids use "Kenwood" ham equipment. :D
So, version 3.0.77 is more than the "Adult" version. :D
The Kenwood group started 10 years ago, and the early messages were formatted such that it looked like version 3.9.76 was trying to stuff the email address of the author into the "From" field, resulting in a "The field you're trying to insert data in is too small" (or something like that) error message.

Hi Brad,
My copy of PGO (3.0.077) is IPF'ing ( I have no membership to a members only group).
Does 3.0.077 fix this for you? If not I'll need access to the group.
Cheers,
Wilson.
Wilson,
Good work on the new verison ..... all my issues with downloading are fixed!
I know we all have this habit of complaining and whinning when things don't work.
I'll offer a big THANK YOU for all your efforts...!
$10 a year is quite reasonable for this powerful tool.
Mark
Hi Mark,
Glad to hear its all working for you.
I'm going to change the business model for new users. Its going to be $19.95 to buy PGO and then $10 a year.
I was thinking... what if, by some miracle, I managed to sell 5000 licences? That'd be great but eventually the money would run out and I'd be supporting 5500 people as against 500 with no income. Given the ongoing maintainance requirement for PGO there is no option but to make it a subscription service.
Obviously existing users will not be charged a subscription fee. You bought the program on the understanding that it is a flat purchase.
Cheers,
Wilson.
Speaking of existing users, i.e. me. :) I tried sending you a pm a couple of weeks ago. I have reformatted my PC and I cannot find the image that I'd made the last time I did this. How do I retrieve my registration code? PM answer is fine by me.

Changing the license policy is fine and your policy for existing owners is uber cool.
As for the latest beta (3.0.77) it works fine with the adult section but I am getting timeouts that cause the product to minimize and then maximize in a stopped state with the download pane cleared. Sometimes it's after a hundred or so downloads, sometimes after thousands. Restarting the download causes everything to carry on so it's not an issue with Yahoo locking me out.
Should I trying playing with the timeout limit? My guess is that if the program minimizes on a failure and then mazimizes with a cleared download log it really doesn't know that it failed.
No matter: messages are coming down again so we'll work out the bugs.
Mike.

Hi Wilson
I, along with probably a few others, did not receive an email with the link to make a "subscription" payment. Over time email addresses change and some of our ISP's have what could be called interesting views on what they think is spam so the messages dont make it. I would really love to make that payment as I feel PGO is more than worth the minimal amount you have been asking.
If you could post a link I, and hopefully a few others, will get some funds to you!!
Cheers

Hi Justin,
Yes. I have about 80 emails in my inbox titled "Mail System Error - Returned Mail".
As my email list I have used everyones registration email. I could have ued the Forum email list but its chock full of spammers email addresses. And I suspect that quite a few people who have PGO registered aren't members of the forum.
If you want to make a donation you can send money to purchase (at) personalgroupware.com
I refuse nothing but blows!

Wilson,
Great to have PGOffline hauling in the accumulated messages at round about 400 messages a minute. It was a long illness.
Gratefully,
Denos aka Dennis
Hi Wilson,
Invalid page format on 15 of 21 groups that I tried to refresh today
(7/16/09). The invalid page format message occurs just after PGO
requests the high message number. After the error, PGO tries the
next group until all groups are processed. This is on version 3.0.77
Looks like we are out of business again. . .
Pete
Hi Pete,
I'm seeing the same thing.
I will get on it right away.
Cheers,
Wilson.
I had a similar problem with some (but not all) of my groups today. I then went to
groups.yahoo.com
to look at the recent messages in the groups that did not download. I did NOT see the normal list of my yahoo groups. There was a link that said something along the lines of "Click here if you don't see your groups listed" (that's not verbatim). When I clicked that link, I got a page that read:
We're Sorry...
We are unable to complete your request at this time. We are aware of this problem and are working on a resolution. (code -9997)
If you continue to receive this error for more than 48 hours, please contact our Customer Care team. We apologize for this inconvenience.
So it could be something Yahoo-wide, and not just something that only breaks PG Offline
Hi Epod,
Yes. I am able to download all my groups this morning so it does look like a temporary Yahoo server problem.
Cheers,
Wilson.

That's nice to hear and thank you for that.
I naturally have an aversion to subscription-based services but the $10 charge isn't high, so I think you might make it work. When I spend $60 on an antivirus program and have to spend it again next year, I think that is asking too much. A $10 per year subscription is reasonable. Possibly a small discount for using PayPal if their cut is less than a credit card company might charge.
As for PGO, there are open-source alternatives (a couple, perhaps), but they are not good ones (in my opinion), are not supported well, and take a lot of expertise to make them work. They are not a simple solution like PGO.
