Title: New DLL.... I think this it!!!
Post by: Wilson Logan on June 21, 2009, 09:01:20 PM
Hi All,

There is a new DLL. It seems to work 100% better than the last one.

If you copy this file:

http://www.personalgroupware.com/groupmanager/yg_mr.dll

into your PG Offline install directory and overwrite the existing yg_mr.dll you will be able to use the new DLL.

You should consider this a beta version. We will create a new full version of PG Offline ASAP with this DLL.

Known issues:

1) I'm still seeing the occassional timeout (like once every 4000 messages).

2) If you download from very early messages (say from 2001) sometimes PGO cannot figure out the From field. Once we get that fixed you can go back and re-load those messages.

So, this is looking very promising.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Update on the known issues:

1) I've downloaded over 20,000 messages now without a stop so this may be less frequent than I thought.

2) There used to be a From field in those early messages but I've looked in the Yahoo messages and for some reason that persons From details have been removed so its not a program issue.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Hi All,

Hold up! "Get Groups" is stuffed. Nothing major, the regex just needs a tweak.

You can work around by adding the group manually in Groups--> New Group.

There will be a new DLL to sort this soon. I will just overwrite the old one here

http://www.personalgroupware.com/groupmanager/yg_mr.dll

and make a note of it in a later post in this thread.

Cheers,

Wilson.

By Golly, I think you've got it! ;D I've downloaded messages for three groups so far and it seems to be working. I'm using Windows XP-SP3.

OK, the new DLL with the fix for "Get Groups List" has overwritten the old one.

Adult groups do not, at this time, work but that will be fixed in short order.

Wilson.

Hi Wilson

New DLL works for most groups but I get:-

22/06/2009 10:40:15 > Set group's info (12VDC_Power)
22/06/2009 10:40:15 > Authorization skipped
22/06/2009 10:40:16 > Request number of messages
22/06/2009 10:40:17 > Error : Invalid page format.
22/06/2009 10:40:17 > Set group's info (ahha_cnc)
22/06/2009 10:40:17 > Authorization skipped
22/06/2009 10:40:18 > Request number of messages
22/06/2009 10:40:19 > Error : Invalid page format.

on these 2 groups

Regards

Ian

I copied the new DLL and was able to download close to 14000 messages from one group this morning. I did get some error messages, all for pre-2000 messages. But once past the those early messages, things sailed along without stopping. I am running Vista Home Premium 64bit with SP2.

Hi Ian,

Ok, I've tried ahha_cnc and 12VDC_power and I get the same result so I'll will look at it as a matter of priority.

Wilson.

Yes, it absolutely WORKS!!!

I was able to download all my group messages from March 23, 2009 (quite a few!). And I'm still using version 2.5.47 (downgraded from the last version before the DLL fix).

Thanks Wilson for all your hard work, persistence, and patience. I'm definitely more than happy to contribute $10, and to pay for annual (or as necessary) upgrades. You've just given me a wealth of information that I can download to my hard drive instead of relying on the immortality of a particular Yahoo group.

I just put my money where my mouse was, and I hope that all those, who agree that a $10 donation is well worth the service you provide, will do the same.

Jim.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the kind words. I just hope that the next time Yahoo strike I can be faster with a solution.

Actually, the new guy (Jeff from NY) is very good and if we can hold onto him I expect that next time will go much more smoothly.

Cheers,

Wilson.

hi wilson.

one tweak still missing. using 3.0.74 in toyota_prius_de the 'from' column comes out as

 s="smalltype">Von:"n******

where 'n******' is the name that solely should appear there.
a little experiment shows that you can get the name using this regex (javascript):

 Rx = /<div[^>]*>\s+(.+?)<.+?<\/div>\s+<span class="name"/m;

retrieving the name that appears before the "name" span. for the name part inside of that (mostly an anchor, but not always)

 Rx = /<span class="name"[^>]*>\s+(?:<a [^>]*>)?(.+?)</m;

should work.

greetings
uwe

Not so fast . . .

I am running v3.0.77 and there still appears to be a formatting issue.

I've noticed that white space is not being correctly translated in
the downloaded version of the message.

1) extra space is being stripped.
2) blank lines are being ignored.

This makes the resulting download hard to read. This is happening
in messages that are plain text, and does not seem to be the case
with messages that are written in html.

Thanks,
Pete

Hi Pete,

Can you give me a group name & message number where this is happening, preferably a group with public archives?

Thanks,

Wilson.

You can try with the italian lists:
ben-essere
mente
visus

In the field From there is ="smalltype"> for all messages from 26/03/09

Thanks

Yes, I'm seeing it too. I'll speak to the developer.

Wilson.
