Title: Server name or address could not be resolved."
Post by: Denos on April 06, 2009, 05:27:16 AM
Greetings, Wilson! PGOnline has been running trouble-free for at least 18 months. Thanks.  Have just had installed new HD and get message as above. Don't think the problem as listed in FAQ. What to do?

I'm running version 2.5.47 and until today, no problems. Should I update or stick with what has worked for so long?

Best wishes,

Dennis

Can anyone tell me if my problem ( See above) is likely to be connected with changes at Yahoo, or because I have a new hard disk? I use PGOnline daily, and now that I can't it's disturbing.

Hi Dennis,

Keith is spot on. Its a Yahoo related issue which we're working on right now.

Cheers,

Wilson.

What now happens is that PGOffline gets as far as - receive message, long wait, then Invalid page format.  Only writing in case I've missed something. I know. Be patient. Wait.

Hi Dennis,

Yes. The program gets to the parser function which cannot translate what its sees and just stops. Hence the program hang.

Cheers,

Wilson.

I know I'm supposed to be patient, but is there even a glimpse of a hint of an intuition when the present problem might be solved? I use PGOffline regularly for a number of purposes, so I miss it.

Dennis,

The friend who was helping me ended up in a head on car collision. The goods news is that he has no head injuries or anything crippling and his wife came away almost unscathed. The bad news is that they took an hour and half to cut him from the wreckage and he has a broken left arm, broken right leg, broken pelvis (including the left socket), five broken ribs and a broken vertebrae.

I am hoping to get his friend to help me starting Monday with an update on Wednesday.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Logan,

"Gute Besserung" (Get better) to your friend who had the nasty accident.

Back from holiday and tried version  3-0-0.74 exe. Absolutely no joy. Mostly got a timed out message after a few seconds. What's the news? I don't recall that PGOffline was ever so long out of commission.
