Title: Truncated Messages (In-Line Quote)
Post by: floyd43 on April 10, 2006, 02:27:42 AM
Many messages that have an in-line quote from a previous message are truncated, example:  On 4/6/06, treaves@... <treaves@...> wrote:

The remainder is lost!  Retrieving a new copy of the message yields same results.  Other In-line quote messages are fine.  Seems to be about 40% of the messages in my primary group of interest.   Any Ideas?   TIA

Hi,

The problem stems from the way PGO parses messages. To find the actual message in the webpage served to it from Yahoo, PGO parses the page till it finds a string that indicates start of message. It does the same to find end of message. If someone cuts & pastes the HTML rather than the actual text of the messages they can inadvertantly include the end of message indicator. PGO interprets this as the end of the message. I appreciate that this is not the "real" end of the message but its not trivial to distinguish the two. We will have a fix for this eventually (probably around June). When the fix arrives you'll have to reload your messages to get the corrections.

Cheers,

Wilson.
