Title: Export to PHPBB
Post by: ptrotter on January 17, 2006, 08:00:53 PM
Hi all,

We are trying to move away from Yahoo groups due to the excesive advertising and many companies now block all messages from yahoo groups.

We will be hosting our own Forum using YaBB, same system as this group.

Now that my #1 problem is solved, get my messages out of Yahoo Groups, my question is, has anyone done this before, and how would we go about it?

Regards
Paul

Are you wedded to YaBB?  The PHPBB people have a convertor that uses the ygroups.mdb file.

Cheers,

Wilson.

We did look into PHP BB, but decided to go for YaBB instead. We already have several new forums in it and are trying to migrate some of the others.

Hi Wilson,

My appologies, it looks alot like this forum, but it is actually a different one.

SMF 1.0 - http://www.simplemachines.org/ (http://www.simplemachines.org/)

Any ideas?

Check with the SMF people to see if they have a phpBB to SMF convertor & then you could do it in 2 jumps. Yahoo--> phpBB --> SMF.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Hi Warren,

I don't have a specific link. Its in the phpBB users site under conversion tools. Maybe go to the site & search for "PG Offline"?

Cheers,

 Wilson.
