Hi
I deleted a group about 6 months ago, and have now restarted it
so message numbers repeating. How can I archive the mails for
the new group?
Many thanks for any help.
gill
Hi Gill,
I take it you've restarted it with the exact same name ?
Cheers,
Wilson.
Hi Wilson
Yes, same name as my website, so would like
to keep it.
Gill
OK, you've got 2 possibilities:
1) Edit the name of the original (dead) group in the MS Access tables that PG Offline uses.
2) Create a new database (File--> New Database) and put either your new or old group there.
So, 1) has the advantage that you can search both groups simultaneously because they're on the same database but the downside is you need to do a little work at the start.
2) has the advantage that its a no brainer but the disadvantage that your messages will be on separate databases and therefore not simultaneously searchable.
I can help you with either solution.
Cheers,
Wilson.
Hi Wilson
I would rather go for option 1, especially as you kindly offer
to help, as I do search the archive of the old group quite
often. If you could talk me through the steps (bearing in
mind I am not too technical but do have a 13 year old son) ;)
I would be very grateful.

Hi Gill,
First things first, do you have MS Access on your computer?
The database is in MS Access format so we need it to open the database file.
Cheers,
Wilson.
Yes, I have MS Access. Haven't ever used it, but my son has!
Thanks,
gill
OK, I suggest this:
1) Backup the ygroups.mdb file which contains all your groups.
2) Open the original ygroups.mdb file using Access.
3) Open table 'tblGroups'. Locate the entry for your old group & change its name to something like old_<groupname> where <groupname> is your old groupname.
4) Close 'tblGroups'.
5) Right click on 'tblYgr_<groupname>' and Rename it to 'tblYgr_<old_groupname>.
6) Right click on 'tblYgr_<groupname>_Att' and Rename it to 'tblYgr_<old_groupname>_Att.
7) Right click on 'tblYgr_<groupname>_Mmb' and Rename it to 'tblYgr_<old_groupname>_Mmb.
8] Close ygroups.mdb
9) Close Access
10) Start PGO.
All should be well.
Cheers,
Wilson.
Hey, I did it, and didn't even need to call on 13 year old!
Many thanks for your help Wilson.
