Title: Searching causes crash
Post by: mick on June 04, 2005, 07:13:51 AM
Every time I try to search my message archives, the program crashes. No matter how I configure the search parameters I have to restart. What am I doing wrong?

Are you using XP?
If so do you have your display properties set to the  Windows Classic Style and not the Windows XP Style?
I had all sorts of searches crashing until I changed that, something to do with VB.

Hi,

I've also been getting this crash in Windows XP Home SP2.

Changing to Classic style fixed it  for me too.

The crash is an access violation in mscomctl.ocx.

I've downloaded the latest version 6.1.97.86 from Microsoft and that didn't fix it.

Any chance of fixing this bug? It's a kind of bothering thing that one has to change between windows style in order to do a simple search within PGO.  ::)

Hi All,

You can choose to run PG Offline in Compatibility mode and switch off Visual Themes only for PG Offline. The change is permanent and you only need to do it once.

Please see here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/russel_02february18.mspx

You only need to tick the 'Disable Visual Themes' box and then the 'Apply' button. Leave the operating system choices alone.

Cheers,

Wilson.
