Title: Problems sending email: authentication
Post by: Denos on August 29, 2004, 12:31:01 PM
I can't send emails, including forwarding, from within PG Offline. I get an error message from my German server saying it received no authentication. Is there a way of allowing this, or must I use a different email program?

Not a reply - a comment. I cannot send email from within PGOffline, but I can send emails from within the PG Offline Users Forum.

I'm not really up on this. I'll need to ask the developer & get back to you.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Since you won't be using the PG Offline mail client  to receive messages did you tell PG to use your SMTP mail server instead of your POP mail server?  My POP mail server requires authentication, but my SMTP server does not.

Hope that helps,
Lazlo

All this really means is that you have to check your email before you can send anything. A lot of ISP's and Web Hosts are starting to do this. Usually they require that you have checked your account up to 30 minute prior to sending the email you want to send. This can happen in ANY program that sends email because it's on the server end, not the program end of things.

What I do is set outlook or outlook express to automatically check my email every 15 minutes. That way, I don't run into authentication errors.

I hope that made sense.
