Hi everyone,
I'm asking for help, either in the form of somebody doing the work for me (if possible) or helping me figure out what's wrong.
I keep getting timeouts when trying to download from my EnchantedForestMD group. I can't download any messages from there. I managed to download my wlhsalum2 group with no problems, so I know how to download, but I keep getting timeouts from EnchantedForestMD.
Can anybody help? I am using Win98 and PGOffline 2.0.175. Thanks!
Meredith,
I'm getting the same problem. The only thing I can think of is that its something about your group. I know you've switched off posting and that might be the problem. As you are the group owner, you could, just as a test, switch on posting and see it that works. If you can then download, just leave it to download & then switch posting back off. If you want to make your group archive available to other group members I will host it for you for free on the downloads page.

BTW there's a problem at the moment with the Yahoo message format (they've started allowing smilies in Yahoo ID's). We will be releasing a fix soon. It might be best to wait for the fix before downloading your group.
Cheers,
Wilson.
Wow, thank you for the offer to help! I have turned posting back on (though only moderators can post) and I am going to try downloading again. If it doesn't work, I can wait for the latest fix and then try once more. If that doesn't work, the archives are public, and I would really appreciate the offer to host the file for me until I can pull it down! :)
Okay, they're all invalid pages. I'll wait for the patch. Guess I should have done that in the first place! ;D
Meredith,
The patch will be ready tomorrow evening.
Cheers,
Wilson.
Hello,
Just wondering the status of the patch for this problem. The post says it'll be posted 5-June, Has it?....Don't see it. I'm still a newbie and don't know where patches are posted.... :)
The note at top of forum page says a fix will be available 5-May...is this a typo? Should be 5-June??? Or maybe another problem?
This error 'Invalid page format' started 3-June (for me anyway). I have 2.5.8 on Win XP pro SP1
Thanks,
Yes, its a typo. I dont know what month it is....
Anyway... the fix is in...
http://www.pgoffline.com/groupmanager/pgpatch25009.exe
Version 2.5.9
- Problems with changes in Yahoo design were fixed
- Ranges for 'Find Missing Messages' can be specified now
- Forward digest feature was added
- Delete button was added to full screen view
- Message info fields were added to full screen view
- Groups with unread messages will be highlighted now
- Current database name will be displayed in the main window title now
WARNING... this patch appears to be a bit flaky (on my machine at least). Its reporting messages as missing when they're there & its has crashed twice whilst downloading. Thats my experience, your mileage may vary.
Cheers,
Wilson.
Quick update... if you turn the multiple message download feature off
(registered users only) then the missing messages are found.
Uncheck the 'Enable messages caching' box in File--> Options--> Download.
We'll have a look at this & get back to you.
Cheers,
Wilson.
Wilson,
I have also found a invalid page format msg in DSN-KLR650, msg no. 111250, it's there but pgo can't get it. Using 2.5.009 no cache.

Gavin,
Can you setup test account for this group for me (this group isn't public and I can't access it for testing).
Alex,
I'll set up an account using the default test user. I'll email you when its ready.
BTW I'm using 2.5.10 & I appear to have that message (111250). I didn't do anything special, PGO just picked it up during a refresh. Anyway, its still worth checking out.
Cheers,
Wilson.
I was just trying to get into one of my old yahoo userids to use, when Wilson replied. The only thing of interest is that particular message does not have a Yahoo!Id showing, just an name/email.
Thanks Guys.
Gavin
I'm still having this problem:
6/9/04 9:16:35 PM > Receive message : 1
6/9/04 9:18:24 PM > Error : The HTTP redirect request failed
6/9/04 9:18:25 PM > Receive message : 2
6/9/04 9:19:40 PM > Time out. Receive stop.
6/9/04 9:20:57 PM > Error : The HTTP redirect request failed
And that's with the 2.5.10 patch. Is there something else I should try, or can somebody volunteer to download EnchantedForestMD for me?
Hi Meredith,
Yahoo groups is temporarily down. You just need to try again.
Not that it matters, I have downloaded your group. I'll email it to you, OK?
Cheers,
Wilson.
Oh yes, that would be wonderful! You can send it to mperuzzi (at) gmail (dot) com. Thank you so much! How long did it take to download?
Hi Meredith,
It took me about 10 mins I think. I sent you an email with a link in it as your ISP rejected my email with the zip file attached.
Cheers,
Wilson.
For some reason that e-mail isn't coming through either. ???
Can you PM the link to me? I also don't mind having the archives available to the public if you want to post it with other archived groups.
In that case:

Instructions for how to Import files are here:

Hi Wilson,
Now PGO seems to download about 90% of the messages.
I use the patch 2.5.10.
In the group "colloidalsilver2" I can't download
the following messages: 17669, 17671, 17674, 17685
I downloaded 17665-17695. I can look on them with the browser.
In the log-window I get the diagnose: "Error: Invalid page format"
Regards,
Peter
Hi Peter,
I just had a really bad day here. I was getting that same error & then I couldn't download anything at all. My Access database had exceeded 2 GB (which its not allowed to do). Can you check the size of your database?
I'll check out those messages for you & see what happens when I try to DL them.
Cheers,
Wilson.
Peter,
I just downloaded 17665 thru 17700 without a hitch.
Please check your database size. If its too big (i.e. > 2GB) the first thing to do is start MS Access & open your database file (ygroups.mdb) & then choose Tools---> Database Utilities--> Compact & Repair database. This will remove temporary files & release some storage space. Next you should think about creating a 2nd database & transferring half the groups to it by doing an Export from the first group & an Import in the 2nd group. Then go back to the first group & delete the Exported groups followed by another Compact & Repair in Access.
Cheers,
Wilson.
Hi Wilson,
My database is 435 MB. I compacted it with Access and it is now 422 MB. I still could not dowload the 4 messages 17669, 17671, 17674, 17685 when I downloaded 17665-17700.
Even when I try to download only the 17674 message I get "Invalid page format".
I have also started from scratch with an empty database and get exactly the same result.
Are you sure you downloaded all messages?
Regards,
Peter
Peter,
There seems to be a problem with this group when using the single message download method. I used this & got the same errors you did. I tried using the Message Chaching method & it seems to get round this.
Alex is invetsigating the problem but I suggest for the moment, you enable Message Caching.
File--> Options--> Download tick the checkbox 'Enable Message Caching'.
Cheers,
Wilson.
