Since yahoo seem to have a throttle which limits
me to 3 msg/min it is taking a long time to download
a whole group of 10,000 messages.
In order to get an overview of the content of
the group it would have been neat to have just
downloaded the message no., subject, author and date.
These can be viewed as 30 per page at yahoo and
there may be no throttle on these since the
data volume would be only a small fraction of
getting the messages. I could then decide
offline which messages I wanted to download
and select this with PG online.

3 msgs/min? Thats harsh. Yahoo doesn't set that limit. Thats a problem with your machine or connection.
Please tell me what groups you want to download & I'll download them & make an archive file available for you.

I am downloading a private group from the UK.
Since Yahoo was blocking me after about 300 msg
at the full speed i.e 50msg/minute.
I set the speed to 3msg/min and
it would run almost continuously until windows hibernated.
