Title: Transferring from "old" PG Offline
Post by: lklawrie on February 28, 2016, 05:50:33 PM
Finally making the change from the old PG Offline to PG4.

In PG3, I had several databases due to the limitations of the mdb file size.

As I start importing, should I keep this database set (presumably, before each import start a new database..) or should I let them all reside in one DB?

Any suggestions, hints, comments, etc.

Linda

Hi Linda,

Depends on how many groups / messages, etc.

The new database has no realistic limit so that's not an issue.

The only downside is the time PGO takes to open a very large database.

That also depends on how fast your PC is.  If I were you I'd load everything to one database initially.

You can always simply copy the database, rename it and make a cut down version by deleting those groups you don't want.

I personally have about 4 main databases sorted by subject so I have all my machining groups in one database and all my motorcycle groups in another database, etc.

Cheers,

Wilson.
