Title: Looks like Yahoo is at it again!
Post by: AceHarddrive on August 02, 2005, 12:52:57 PM
Whenever I try to download messages, or list my groups, I get "Invalid Page Format."  I tried deleting the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program
Settings\PG Offline] from the registry (after uninstalling PGO.  I then installed the newest version, but that didn't help either.  Any ideas?

Troubles here too, Invalid page format, on most of my groups. Some seem ok but most are FUBAR.

Another piece of the puzzle - I found that after the IPF error in PGO I am longer login in to yahoo via IE. I am forced to re-login to yahoo.

Usually I only use the "Start" button, but that hasn't gotten me anywhere today.  I did try the "Refresh" button, and only got new messages from one group: "StraightRazorPlace."  All the rest come up as IPF.

Well, all my groups now come up as IPF errors. Can't see any difference on line at yahoo. What are they doing that causes this so frequently?

I don't know what they're up to. I'm on European servers and about a week ago some of my groups started to "IPF" (thanks for the TLA Manfred!).

Now they're all sorted so I'm guessing its some sort of maintainance type of thing.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Being unable to use the "List Groups" button, I only have a few groups listed on my PGO: BG2003-Fanfiction, drawingtogether, drawingtogether2, FSCMojo, straightrazorplace, straightrazors.  What's strange is that 1)I was able to get DT on my list, since Yahoo says it doesn't exist and 2)The only groups that I have been able to get messages to download from are the two straightrazors groups (the oldest ones on my list)!  This is very strange!

Wilson,

This is an FYI - I know you are waiting on Alex to get back from holiday. v. 2.5.040 is not working for me either - I'm also getting the famous IPF error.

Just tried a "Get Members" and it returns an IPF also.

Hi Wilson,

Has there been any progress on this problem? I have a backlog of downloads mounting up which I need to access.

BTW. I note that, since the problem arose, I have been prompted to log-in to YahooGroups every time I access the site and it will not "remember my ID" as it did before. Could there be an additional security level that Yahoo has added which is creating a barrier?

Cheers,

Seph

No idea. You may have switched cookies off though which would have the same effect.

Cheers,

Wilson.

I haven't changed anything (including switching cookies off) and I am not able to download any messages for the last couple of days.  I also have to login everytime I access the Yahoogroups page - and the remember my ID check doesn't seem to make any difference.  Yahoo is, indeed, at it again.

Overnight London time it looks as though there has been a Yahoo! format change. I am getting Invalid Page Format on all messages on many groups.

Access via the web pages is OK.

Best wishes

John Prentice

ps Wilson You should have several offlist mails from me about my re-registration problems having updated my system. It is tedious dismissing the nnDays to go dialog :=)

Yeah! started getting IPFs and Error: Message xxx does not exist.  for all my groups.

I hope Yahoo gets this all sorted out quickly.

I was getting those until I installed the new update.  Unfortunately, while PGO will tell me how many messages there are in each group, it won't download any new messages.

Hey guys Mine was doing that too. I went in and Under File I clicked options and checked Skip authorization (under work flow  tab) and then unchecked  Enable message caching ( under the download tab) and all my groups downloaded. Try that and see if it helps with all you guys problems.

I was getting Message not exist.. and  Invalid page formats before I tinkered with it now it works for me at least.

I forgot to say that every now and then I get this message:

Error : The HTTP redirect request failed.

I can clear that by closing the program and restarting it.

I have never gotten that error before.

Hi,

"server name or address cannot be resolved."

this is the message PGO throws when it can't access the internet. This is usually because of a firewall or privacy software or because Yahoo are doing routine maintainance and their site is down.

If you try again a day later and you still get the same error, its unlikely to be  routine maintainance.

Please install PGO on another PC you have access to. If you get the same error then it may be because Yahoo have recently altered the format of their site but I feel this is unlikely your problem as no one else is reporting this error.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Well, mine's working just fine now, for whatever reason.  However, I still can't get photos from Yahoo groups' Photos sections.  Each folder has the link to my briefcase.  Same thing for my "Photo Downloader for Yahoo Groups" app.    I've left a message at Mozillazine some time ago and have yet to get a reply back.

I guess you know Yahoo is updating the Photo Sections:

Dear Moderators,

Starting the week of November 21st, we will be upgrading Yahoo! Groups photos. Not all groups will be affected immediately; the changes will take place gradually over a 4-6 week period.

The upgrade will:

allow for moderation of the photos uploads (in the same way you currently can moderate messages);
alert users on the web site when new photos are uploaded;
display all recently posted photos on a special "new photos page";
offer a larger display option for photos.

In addition, thanks to some help from the Yahoo! Photos team, photos will now be stored in "albums" rather than folders. The good news is that albums will now display the first photo in the album as a cover photo, and the owners of an album will have the ability to sort the photos.

However, the change also means you will no longer be able to place a photo album in another photo album, nor add photos to a group without putting them in an album. For existing groups that are using these features, folders in your group's photo area that are currently stored in other folders will be brought to the top level; while photos that are currently not in any folder will be automatically added to a new album called "Miscellaneous".

If you want to preview the new Yahoo! Groups photos functionality, you can test drive it at the special photo upgrade beta group we have created. Please feel free to jump into the group and tell us what you think or simply email your feedback to groups-feedback@cc.yahoo-inc.com

Thank you,

Gordon Strause

Interesting -- I tried the new version as soon as it came out and I kept getting Invalid Page formats.  So, I tried it again this morning and it's working!

Its in the nature of how Yahoo upgrade their server software. My Get Groups still isn't working but it will start working once my servers have the latest version.

Cheers,

Wilson.
