After many years of using PGO without problems, I have today hit an error that I can't get round. I use version 3.0.84 (please don't tell me to use the new Beta - one thing at a time!)

When doing Start or Refresh, the first message gives the error:

Error during write message to the database.
Error information: The field is too small for the amount of data
you are trying to add. Try pasting less data.

(I have translated the error information from German.)

I have checked the database integrity - OK, and deleted a fair number of old messages and compacted the database - OK. After all this the error is still there.

The database file (ygroups.mdb) in PGO is 1118.872 KB. I have attached a screen dump.

Is there anything else I should do? Many thanks, Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,

Updates to Version 3 have ceased so a programatic solution is not possible.

I have seen this error in the past. I think it was an issue with the length of the user name of a particular message.

Or something in the message. It was years ago...

The best thing is to skip the problem message by adjusting the 'Start download from the message #' field which you can find by right clicking on the group name in the groups list, choosing Group Settings, then choose the Download Settings tab and in there alter the field to be = the problem message number + 1.

Please let me know how you get on.

BTW you can try the V4 beta here:

http://www.personalgroupware.com/groupmanager/pg-offline-4-r665-setup.zip

It will not affect your V3 of PG Offline & you can run both simultaneously.

Cheers,

Wilson.
