PG Offline 2.5.24 & AVG 7.0 Free Conflict

Not really a bug.  PG Offline 2.5.24 and AVG 7.0 Free (www.grisoft.com) do not like sharing my Win98 SE computer.  It appears older versions of PG Offline will share the computer with AVG.  Is anybody successfully running these two programs together under Win98 SE?  Does Wilson want to take a look at this?

Hi Bill,

What is the nature of the conflict?

Thanks,

Wilson.

Here is what happens.

I start PG Offline and the startup box appears.
The harddisks starts running continuously.
After a while of watching the harddisk go round and round I bring up the taskmanager.
Taskmanager reports PG Offline not responding.
I end the task (PG Offline).
Then I get a blue screen with the following:

An exception 0E has occurred at 0028:C0135D44 in VxD AVG7RS(01) +
000023E4.  This was called from 0028:C0299363 in VxD VWIN32(05) +
00001E8B.

Then I do a hard reboot of my computer.

It is interesting I can run PG Offline from safe mode (PG Offline does report it is unregistered when I do this) or if I uninstall AVG I can run PG Offline.

I'm going to contact AVG about this, but in the mean time, you can temporarily disable AVG whilst using PGO. PGO doesn't download attachments (anymore) and so you can't get a virus from it.

Cheers,

Wilson.

I have asked over on Grisoft's AVG forum how to do this.  The only way I know right now to run PG Offline is to remove AVG.  The minute I do this I can run PG Offline again.

Hi Bill,

I've contacted them & they won't talk to me (no reg code).

Maybe I'll try the forum.

Cheers,

Wilson.
