Is this your group? I.e. are you the Yahoo group owner?

The reason I ask is that I only post groups in the Downloads area with the express permission of the group owner.

Cheers,

Wilson.

No I am not the group owner, just a member.

Glad to here your policy on this.  I was going to get around to asking.
I am surprised, but not shocked, that some of the groups in the
Downloads normally have restricted to members only access
to messages.

I'm going to have tons to share.  Would represent lots of online
storage.  And, in many cases, there may be minimal interest.

For now, I plan to post what I have where messages are
public.  If the interest is high enough to make sense
of a download access, I will let you know.  Then,
I can make a "sell" to the group owner based
on interest and perhaps increased
membership.  I am not ready to
start doing "cold-calls" about
PG Offline just yet.

At such point, we can also discuss hosting some of the
files on one of my sites.

Initally, I am more inclined to email
copies to those who are
interested.

Thats probably the best way forward. For any group that requires membership to view the archived messages I strongly recommend that you obtain permission to share archive files from the group owner. Even when sharing by email with other members. I doubt any sensible group owner would object but you must give them their place. Its their group after all.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Amen to that.  Upsetting a owner or moderator can be very contra-productive.

BTW, you say

"I am surprised, but not shocked, that some of the groups in the

to messages."

Have you tried to import such a file? If you're not a member you won't be able to import it into PG Offline.

I provide hidden, password protected directories for group owners who want to share archives but do not wish to make the archive completely public.

Cheers,

Wilson.
